34 Weeks & 4 Days

Dave's Point Of View

Over the past four and a half months Britt and Abby had both been helping Gisele plan her wedding. Even though Abby was the maid of honor, Britt had been doing more than her fair share. To be fair though Abby was working and Britt had nothing but free time on her hands. Since Britt had been doing so much to help them out, the girls had decided to throw her a party. Since Britt hadn't wanted a baby shower, the girls decided to throw her one. When they came to ask me for help, I suggested that maybe they could do a half birthday party and half baby shower. Abby, Gisele and I got to work on planning it and today was the day. Britt was upstairs getting ready to go with Gisele for one of her final dress fittings while I was downstairs with James. I was texting Abby to let her know what was going on. She and Taylor were coming over once Gisele picked up Britt to help set up for the party. When the doorbell rang, James and I went to get it. hen I opened the door, Gisele and Rufus were standing there.

"Hey, guys come on in. Britt's still upstairs getting ready," I said as they walked in.

"We have time. Is everything set?" Gisele asked quietly as we headed to the kitchen.

"So far so good. Taylor and Abby are at the coffee shop close by waiting until you guys leave. You here to help?" I asked Rufus.

"Yes, sir. Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it," Rufus replied with. Just as I was about to speak, James came running into the kitchen.

"The duck flies at midnight," James said excitedly. Ever since we had started planning the party, James had been our lookout. We gave home some random saying to say whenever his mom was coming. He usually messed it up but today he for it.

"Why is he always talking about ducks lately?" Britt asked as she walked into the kitchen. She looked beautiful in a long white dress with pink flowers on it.

"Maybe he's just taking after his mum," Rufus said jokingly.

"Ha ha maybe," Britt laughed before turning to Gisele. "Ready to go?" she asked.

"Ready when you are," Gisele replied with.

Britt gave me a kiss before giving James one and then grabbed her purse. The girls said goodbye and then left. Once the car was gone, I texted Abby to let her know. Once her and Taylor got there, we got to work right away. When we were almost done, I headed out to get the cakes with James before the guests started arriving.

Britt's Point Of View

"Gisele, are we almost done?" I asked as the seamstress stuck another pin in.

"Almost. We should go to lunch while we're out or do some shopping. Get you something for your birthday maybe," Gisele suggested.

"I kinda just want to go home. No offense but this little guy makes me tired a lot these days," I responded with.

"There we're done. Let's get you out of the dress and get you two on your way," the seamstress said.

As Gisele went to change, I texted Dave to tell him I'd be home soon. When he responded he asked if I could stop at the liquor store to get some things for him. I said sure and then waited for his list. When I finally got it, I was worried and confused as to why he wanted so much. I showed Gisele the list and she said maybe he and Rufus invited some guys over. I figured that maybe she was right and we left the dress shop. After getting what Dave asked us to get, we stopped to get ice cream because I had a craving. We ended up staying at the ice cream place after Gisele insisted. Something weird was going on. It seemed like Gisele was trying to keep me from going home. As we finally headed back to my place, I tried to figure out what could be going on. Once Gisele was finally parked, we headed up to the door and I opened it. The house was oddly quiet. I walked through the house to the kitchen and saw a bunch of people facing the back of the house.

"Surprise!" Everyone yelled as I opened the back door.

"Oh my god you guys," I said as I walked outside. James ran over to me and gave me a party hat.

"Happy birthday mama," he said as I put the hat on.

"Thanks, baby boy. What is this? I thought I said I didn't want or need anything this time around," I said to Dave as he, Abby and Gisele joined us.

"It was these two," Dave said as he pointed towards the girls.

"Well, Dave helped too. We wanted to do something for you since you've been doing more than your share of work for the wedding," Abby said.

"So we decided on a baby shower since you said you didn't want one. When we asked Dave for help he suggested the half baby shower half birthday," Gisele added. I hugged both of them and thanked them. Once they left me and Dave alone, I turned and gave him a look.

"Don't give me that look. You've been doing a lot lately for both of them and they wanted to do something nice for you. I know you feel like a balloon lately but it's one day and you look absolutely beautiful," he said in response to the look.

"Ok but only because you said I was beautiful," I joked.

Dave put an arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer to him before kissing the side of my head. After saying hi to everyone who had shown up, it was time to eat which the little man in my belly was happy about. Then I opened presents which included something for me and something for the baby. After we had the cake, people started leaving and I was finally able to just relax a little more. While the guys cleaned up, Abby, Gisele and I sat around the kitchen table.

"So you guys don't have a name yet?" Gisele asked and I shrugged.

"We've been trying to find one but we can't just agree on one," I responded with.

"I thought Dave wanted to name him after Kurt in some way?" Abby asked.

"We discussed it but I feel like it might trigger unwanted drama," I replied.

"Aren't Dave and Courtney on good terms though?" Gisele asked.

"I think so. I see her like Foo Fighters posts on Instagram. She's liked and commented on a few of mine. Never anything bad but what if she has an issue with me naming my kid after him. Maybe I'm just overthinking shot and worrying about nothing," I said.

We talked a bit more before the guys came inside. We decided to order a bunch of Chinese food and sat around like one big family. After everyone left, Dave, James and I spent some time just playing in the living room. When James got tired, Dave took him upstairs while I put a movie in. Dave came back down after a while and joined me on the couch.

"Have you thought of anymore more name ideas?" he asked as he put an arm around my shoulders.

"I think we should use Kurt for a middle name and I still really like Lucas," I replied.

"So Lucas Kurt Grohl or are we adding another middle name?" Dave asked as he put a hand on my bump.

"Second one for sure. Not going to let James be the only one with two middle names. What about Daniel?" I asked in return.

"Lucas Kurt Daniel Grohl. It has a nice ring to it and he seems to like it," Dave added as the baby started kicking.

"It's a sign," I said with a smile and kissed Dave on the cheek.
