Two Weeks Later - December 10th

I walked out of my room with my phone and sat down on the couch and sighed. Virginia looked over at me from the kitchen in the apartment we had while in Vancouver.

"What's wrong sweetie?" she asked as I got up and walked over to where James was. I sat down and started pushing his swing and making faces at him.

"Dave can't skype today. He's unavailable according to Taylor," I replied. My voice cracked as I said unavailable but I kept a smile on my face for James.

"I'm sure he's got a good reason. You're both busy and your days off don't always line up," Virginia started but she stopped when I turned to look at her.

"But it's their day off too Ginnie. He worked it so we had this day off at the same time and we had plans. He promised," I said as she walked over with a tray.

"Maybe something came up. You never know. Have some tea and you'll feel better," Virginia said. She poured a cup and handed it to me and I took it.

"Maybe but why would he not answer my calls or texts? I haven't heard from him in over 11 hours," I said and took a sip of the tea.

I put it on the coffee table and looked back at James. I was crossing my eyes and puffing my cheeks out at James when the doorbell rang. I got up and headed towards the door, expecting a delivery guy or someone from the movie coming with a script rewrite. When I opened the door I just stood there in shock for a second before I closed the door. I opened it again and just smiled.

"No you're not seeing things. Three weeks was too fucking long," Dave said. He dropped his bag and I jumped into his arms and kissed him.

"I'm so glad you're here. I missed you more than anything in this whole wide world," I said in between kisses to his face. He picked up his bag and carried me into the apartment enough so he could close the door.

"Britt who's here?" I heard Virginia ask and Dave put me down. He put his bag down and took of his shoes and jacket.

"David," I replied as we walked into the living room.

"I knew he had something up his sleeve as soon as you said Taylor's name," Virginia said as she got up to hug her son. I walked over and picked up James and walked back to Dave.

"There's my boy," Dave said and took him from me. He held James close to him and kissed his head a couple of times before he held him out in front of him. They looked at each other for a minute before James reached out and Dave pulled him back in for another hug.

"How long are you here for?" I asked as Virginia went back to the couch.

"Two nights," Dave replied as he sat down in the chair with James on his lap. I sat down on the floor by James' swing and just kinda looked at the floor. I was happy he was here but I shouldn't have asked because I didn't want him to go.

"I think it's nap time for James. I'll go put him down and you two can have some alone time. Just try and keep it down," Virginia said as she took James from Dave.

I covered my mouth and tried not to laugh as she headed into her room with James. Once her door was closed, I looked at Dave and he gave me that look I knew all too well. I nodded my head in the direction of my room and we both got up and headed towards it. We met at the door frame and Dave moved to the side and bowed slightly.

"After you m'lady," he said.

"Why thank you good sir," I replied with a curtsey before walking into the room.

"I'll be right back. I'm just going to grab my bag," Dave said and ran back to the door. I sat down on the end of the bed as he came running back in and closed the door behind him.
