Holding Out For A Hero

48. Kokomo

I woke up and checked the clock to see it was a little after two in the afternoon. I swore as I got out of bed and ran over to my closet. I put on a grey off the shoulders dress and flips flops and ran out of the bedroom. I was suppose to pic James up at noon from Dave's. Boy was he gonna be mad. When I got to the bottom of the stairs I heard laughing coming from the living room. I stopped and listened for a minute to realize it wasn't just Rufus laughing. I headed towards the living room and as I got to the entry way James was trying to make a break for it.

"Hey buddy," I said as I picked him up. I saw both Rufus and Dave sitting on opposite couches as they turned to see me.

"MAMA!" James shouted and then put his arms around my neck and just stayed like that as I moved over to a chair.

"Rufus texted me to say you had a lot of tequila last night and would probably be late to pick James up. So I decided to bring him over instead and Rufus invited me in to talk about somethings," Dave said as I sat down.

"Ya I was telling him about what we talked about last night," Rufus added with a huge smile.

"Without me being present?" I asked with a little bit of sass.

"It's fine and not a big deal. I think it's a great idea. We even worked it out so that I'll fly out there to pick up James. Yes he should have waited for you to be here but I'm fine with it so don't start a fight," Dave said as he looked at me.

"Sorry babe," Rufus said after he came over to me. He gave me the puppy dog eyes and I couldn't stay mad at him.

"It's ok but next time let me do it ok. Are you really sure you're ok with it?" I asked as I turned my attention to Dave.

"Ya of course. All I ask that you actually get some rest and relax a bit and take good care of James. I would like to talk to you alone for a minute though," Dave replied as he stood up.

"Ya of course. I'll be back babe. Watch him for us please," I said and gave him a kiss and James. Dave and I headed off to what used to be Dave's office. Dave held the door open for me and I walked in ahead of him. He locked the door behind him and then turned around to look at me.

"Don't you try nothing mister," I said as Dave started moving closer to me.

"Or what? You won't stop me because you know you want it," he said back as I backed up. I didn't go far as the desk was behind me after two steps.

"That doesn't mean he couldn't be listening," I said in a slight whisper as Dave pulled me close to him.

"So then be quiet," Dave said before kissing me. As we kissed Dave picked me up by my ass and carried me over to the couch. He sat down and I was on top straddling him when I pulled away.

"We need to stop. We can't do anything right here and right now," I said as Dave kept his arms around me.

"Ok fine. You win. Let's get down to business," Dave said and put me beside him on the couch.

We talked everything over before we were both ok with James coming with me to London for a week. We worked out the details and Dave spent the rest of the day with us so I could have some time with James before Dave kept him for the weekend. I spent the weekend packing and cleaning the entire house before we left. We picked James up earlier Monday morning and then headed off to London. Our week in London was interesting but fun. I met both of his parents, his brother and his sisters and they all seemed to like me. James was a hit with the sisters and they didn't want him to go when Dave came to take him back to the states. Rufus and I then headed to Jade Mountain in St Lucia. It was absolutely gorgeous there and was relieved that it was just us. We spent the majority our week in the room either in the bed or in our own private pool. On our last night I got a little sad because I didn't want to leave. I couldn't wait to see James but I really didn't want to leave. I was sitting on the bed after I finished packign and watched Rufus as he got out of the pool.
