3 Months and 2 Weeks Later - March 25, 2023

3 Months Old

Since Lucas's birth, things had gotten a little hectic but a good kind of hectic. I didn't plan on going back to work because I wanted to be with my kids full time for awhile. Dave wasn't on tour or working on a new record yet so he was around everyday helping out. We had almost stopped fighting minus a few little ones that every couple have. Things where almost back to the way they had been before everything had happened between us. We were in a good place and I was happy about that.

Today we where just hanging around the house because the girls were with Jordyn for their monthly weekend. Dave and James where off doing something while I was busy putting Lucas down for his nap. As I sat there rocking Lucas, I came to a hard decision in my mind. I knew it would be a hard subject to bring up with Dave but I had to do it. I'm sure he would ahve no probelms with it in the long run but you never actually know what might happen. Once Lucas was asleep, I put him in the crib, grabbed the video baby monitor and then headed off to find the boys. I found them out in the backyard with James playing with Lennon while Dave was on the phone. I sat down beside him at the table and just watched James chase Lennon. I noticed Lennon wasn't as fast as she used to be and it made me sad. I jumped a bit when I felt Dave put his hand on my leg. I looked over at him but he was still on the phone so I turned my attention back to James. A few minutes later Dave was off the phone and he turned his attention to me.

"Everything ok?" he asked.

"All is well," I replied with a smile.

"Good. I think we should go out tonight," Dave said.

"And do what?" I asked as I watched James fall down.

"Go to dinner, have a couple of drinks and maybe go to the Chevy Metal show that's tonight," Dave responded with as Lennon was all over James and licking his face while he laughed.

"So a date pretty much," I said and Dave nodded. "Sounds like a good idea to me but we need a baby sitter and we'll never find one on such short notice."

"Already taken care of. Taylor said she's not doing anything and wouldn't mind coming over," Dave responded with.

"Ok so then what time do I need to be ready by?"

"6 because I made a reservation at The Palm," Dave replied.

"Oooo you're going all out for a date. I think I might have to put out," I teased and winked at him.

"Not that you have to but I definately wouldn't complain if you did," Dave said back and we both laughed.

"I'm going to go get ready. And in case I forget later," I started and then stopped to lean over and kiss him before I continued, "Thank you for tonight."

"You're very welcome," Dave said back before kissing me again.

I left the baby monitor with Dave and then headed inside to get ready. I showered and then dried and curled my hair. I knew that by the time I was dressed and had my make up done that my hair would be in waves instead of curls. I did my make up and then went to find something to wear. I was still looking when James came in and sat on a stool by the door.

"What's up buddy?" I asked as I looked over at him.

"Dad stopped playing with me because he was on the phone and now Lucas is up," he said with his sad puppy dog face.

"You can hang out with me. I'm going to pick out an outfit for tonight and then I'm goign to go make you dinner before Taylor gets here. Before you get too excited, it's not uncle Taylor," I said. I watched his face change from sad to happy to sad again.
