4 Weeks Later - May 29th
Brittany - 39 Weeks
Abby - 22 Weeks
"Oh my god how much longer is this baby going to be in there?" I asked as I sat in a chair at the table.
"You got a week left babe. Just relax and don't try to make him come earlier. I'll get it," Dave said and left the kitchen after the doorbell rang. I rubbed my belly as James kicked and I smiled.
"You know I'd be perfectly fine if you decided to come out early. I'm sure your dad would be ok with it too. I'll buy you a big teddy bear if you come out right now," I said as I rubbed.
"Bribing your child already I see," someone said and I looked to see Dave and Josh coming into the kitchen.
"I want my little guy here. It's impossible doing anything with this giant belly. I also want a proper hug from my man damn it," I said as Josh came and sat down in the chair beside me.
"She says that now. This time next year she'll wish he was still in there," Josh said to Dave and he nodded.
"Excuse me for being tired of getting backwards hugs and being on my knees for things," I said sarcastically as I started to get up.
"Babe he's joking around. Sit back down please," Dave said as I started walking towards him.
"I'm going to the bathroom. I will come and sit back down or you can stop prepping your meat for the bbq and join my pregnant ass in the living room," I said as I kissed him before walking out of the kitchen.
"She's sassier than normal," I heard Josh say. I went to the bathroom and on my way back I felt a sharp pain. I ignored it like I had been all morning and went into the living room and sat down on the couch. Josh and Dave came in with beers and an ice tea. Dave handed me the ice tea before sitting down beside me.
"It's fine with me but you gotta ask this one," Dave said as Josh sat down in one of the chairs.
"She's going to say no. I have a feeling," Josh said. I looked between them with a confused look on my face.
"What am I saying no to?" I asked Josh.
"Brody kicked me out again and I need a place to stay. Dave said yes but obviously I have to ask the queen of the castle," Josh replied and I just looked at him.
"Why would I say no to that. You do realize if you stay here that there may be a baby here by the end of the week right?" I asked and Josh just smiled. God that smile could melt butter.
"I am perfectly fine with that. What's with that face?" Josh asked as I felt another pain.
"You ok Britt?" Dave asked as I looked at him.
"I keep getting a sharp pain. No biggie," I said as I took a sip of my ice tea.
"What?" Dave asked kind of alarmed.
"Ya I keep getting a sharp pain in my lower back and belly. Why do you looked freaked out?" I asked, getting scared. I looked over at Josh as he started laughing.
"You're having contractions babe. When did they start?" Dave asked as he put his beer down.
"Uh I think it was when I woke up to get the girls ready for school. I was brushing my teeth," I replied as I felt the pain again.
"Josh are you ok to stay here while I take her to the hospital?" Dave asked.
"Fuck that bullshit. I'm coming with you guys. I can drive while you sit in the back with her," Josh said as him and Dave both stood up.
"Come on beautiful. Let's go have a baby," Dave said as he held out his hands to me. I took them after putting down my ice tea and he pulled me up. "Josh get her to the car in the garage while I go get the keys and the bag please."
"Sure thing. Come on Britt," Josh responded with and put an arm around my shoulder.
We headed out to the garage and Josh helped me get into the backseat. When Dave came back out, he put the bag in the front with Josh, gave him the keys and then got in the back with me. The contractions started coming closer together and more painful as we drove to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, they got me into a room right away. I wasn't dilated enough to deliver but I was too close to get a epidural. Dave tried to comfort me but it wasn't working. After two hours the doctor finally said I was dilated enough. After what seemed like forever, I finally had the baby. Dave was holding James when Josh came into the room with a teddy bear, a balloon and some flowers.
"Hey Josh," I said sleepily as he walked over to the bed.
"Hey pretty girl. I saw the doctors and nurses leave and you also stopped screaming so I decided to come meet the little guy. I also brought you flowers and a balloon and this is for the him," Josh said as he pointed towards Dave. I knew he meant James but I decided to make a joke.
"Well I'm sure Dave appreciates the thought but he's a little too old for a teddy bear,' I said with a sweet smile. Josh laughed and gave me a one armed hug after he put the flowers and balloon down beside the bed.
"She's a keeper this one. What did you two name the little guy?" Josh asked as Dave came and sat beside me.
"James Eric Taylor," Dave said as I looked at James.
"Has a nice ring to it. Britt your phone rang while you were having the baby. Some girl named Abby. She sounded hot," Josh responded back with. I turned my attention from James to him and gave him a look.
"Don't let Taylor hear you say that," Dave said and I nodded.
"That's an accident looking for a place to happen. Why did she call?" I asked.
"To be honest I have no clue but I told her you were having the baby. She's on her way probably with Taylor," Josh replied.
Dave eventually gave up James to Josh before Taylor and Abby finally showed up. I nudged Josh with my foot when I saw him checking Abby out as Taylor and Dave talked. Josh looked at me and just smiled. He handed James over to Abby and said he'd see Dave back at the house before he left. Taylor and Abby stayed for a bit before they had to go. Wiley had invited them over for dinner and they didn't want to be late. Chris, Nate, Pat and Rami showed up to see James and congratulate us as well. Visiting hours were almost over now and Dave had to go.
"I'll be back first thing in the morning I promise," Dave said as he kissed my forehead.
"I know babe. Go home and get some sleep. We'll be fine," I said as I caressed his cheek.
"Well there's nurses if you need anything. Hey you did great today by the way," Dave said as he sat back down on the bed.
"Thanks and I'm sorry I said all those mean things. I was in a lot of pain despite the epidural," I responded back with.
"I get it and understand. Just to make sure though, I can still touch you right?" Dave asked as he put a hand on mine.
"Of course you can. You can do whatever you want to me, once we have the doctor's ok and I'm ready. I didn't mean all those things," I replied.
"Oh I already have plans for us when you are ready for that again. Ok I better go before that mean nurse comes back and tells me I absolutely need to go. I love you and will be here first thing tomorrow," Dave said as he smiled and hugged me.
"I love you too. Hey make sure Josh is ok and tell him thank you from me," I said as Dave got up.
"I will. See you tomorrow little guy. I'm bringing your sisters to see you after school tomorrow. They can't wait to meet you," Dave said as he leaned over James in the littler crib next to my bed.
"Hey wait I need something before you go," I said as Dave started towards the door.
"What do you need?" Dave asked as he walked back to the bed. I motioned for him to bend over with my finger. When he did, I pulled him in for a long gentle kiss.
"That," I replied after we pulled apart. Dave smiled and pulled me in for another one that was just as passion as the one I gave to him.
"See you tomorrow beautiful," Dave said and then left to go home.
