One Year Later - March 15, 2022

The past year Dave and I focused most of our time on our jobs. We also spent as much with James as we both could, together or not. We managed to both book a week off around his fourth birthday. James was turning five this year and it just made me realize that he was growing up too fast. I was busy working on the last and final season and we only had five weeks left. I was currently on lunch break and was eating with James in my trailer when a knock came at the door.

"Come in," I yelled as I gave James the iPad to watch his movie. The door opened and closed and when I turned to look Rufus was there.

"Hey Britt. Hey James," he said when James looked up.

"Hi roof roof," James said, saying the roofs like a dog bark. After all this time that was still what James called him.

"Hey Rufus. What's up?" I asked as he sat down across from us.

"Nothing really. Gisele is busy so I thought I'd come and see how you're doing," he replied.

"I'm good. Kind of sad the show is ending but happy at the same time. I won't be tied to one city for weeks at a time anymore which means more time with my husband," I said back.

"Sure Dave will be happy about that. How are you guys doing lately? I know you told the girls things were a little on edge after the uh," Rufus started but stopped. This was a common thing to happen when someone tried to bring up Cecilia and what happened.

"Yes things were on edge for awhile after Cecilia but we've gotten through it. We're just taking it day by day. We keep having to stop and restart our relationship and I feel like it's my fault every time though" I said.

"Don't say that. I'm sure you both share the blame in how things go but you guys keep working at it. I see how you two are together and if we're being honest, you and I pretty great but we weren't no you and Dave or me and Gisele. You guys are going through a huge rough patch which sucks but you guys will get through it," Rufus said back with a smile.

"I know. I think things are finally looking up though. Have been for awhile but I just feel happy now. I see Dave in five weeks, I can do what I want soon and this little one goes back to preschool once he's feeling a little better," I said and put a hand on James's head.

"That's good. Ok so I may have a double motive behind coming to see you," Rufus blurted out. I looked at him confused and he got the hint that he should continue. "I need help from you and Abby picking out a ring."

"Are you going to propose?" I asked excitedly. Rufus just nodded and I shrieked in excitement before getting up and hugging him. "Dude That's so awesome. I'll talk to Abby and we'll work out a day help you. Awww wittle Rufus is growing up."

The rest of the day went by smoothly and James and I managed to get home at a decent time. We ordered a pizza for dinner and then got ready for bed. We then snuggled on the couch with Lennon and watched whatever we could find on tv. Lennon started barking eventually and I shooed her off the couch. She ran off towards the front of the house and then started making her happy noises. I told James to stay on the couch and I went to investigate what was with the dog. I was surprised when I saw why she was making her happy noises.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Dave as he walked over to me.

"I have a few days off and decided to come home. I missed my wife a little too much," Dave replied as he wrapped me up in a hug.

"I missed you too. I'm glad your here too. We should talk later once James is in bed. He's sick so he's not in school this week," I responded with.
