3 Months Later - September 5th
Abby - 37 Weeks
I was sitting on the floor in the living room making funny faces at James waiting for Gisele to come do a wardrobe fitting for next season. I had to be back on set in a month and I couldn't wait. As much as I loved being a mom, I wanted to get back to work. When the door bell rang I made a face at James and picked him up.
"Let's go see whose at the door. Maybe it's your aunt Abby so that when Gisele gets here mommy can work," I said as we walked to the door. I opened it and it was Gisele. I stepped aside as she pushed a rack through the door.
"Hey Britt. Hello little cutie pie," Gisele said to both of us.
"Hey girl. I'm waiting for Abby to get here. She's going to keep the little guy occupied while I'm getting poked by pins," I said jokingly.
"I have only poked you maybe twice the whole time. You just need to stop moving around when you talk," Gisele threw back and we both started laughing as Abby walked up to the door as I was about to close it.
"Hey there good looking," I said as I held the door open and she walked through.
"Hey girls and hello handsome," Abby said as she turned her attention to James.
She held her hands out and I handed her James. We all headed to the living room and started the fitting. For the next hour or so, I put on different dresses and shirts so Gisele could make sure that when I came back to work, they would fit while Abby kept James occupied. Once I was done, I changed into a red t shirt dress and flower patterned high heel shoes. The girls and I decided to go out for lunch with James. After lunch, we went shopping for a bit until Abby couldn't walk anymore. I was on the way home when I needed to stop and get gas. I pulled into a gas station and paid at the pump. I was waiting for the car to fill up when I noticed a couple of paparazzi across the street. I looked into the backseat and saw James sleeping in his car seat. As long as they stayed across the street everything would be fine. Once the car was filled up, I paid and got back in and headed home. I put James in his crib and headed down to the kitchen to make dinner. I was cutting up potatoes when Dave came home. I heard him cussing under his breath as he came into the kitchen. He walked past me and grabbed a beer from the fridge. I could tell he was not in a good mood as he sat down at the kitchen table. I put the potatoes on the stove and then went and sat down at the table with him.
"How did it go with the lawyer? I asked as I looked down at my hands.
"Could have been better. She's fucking dragging her feet with this divorce. I'm giving her everything she wants and I'm not asking for much but she keeps saying no," Dave replied as I finally looked at him.
"What are you asking for that she's not agreeing to?" I asked as he took a sip of his beer.
"All I want is to get the girls every weekend when I'm in town, splitting the holidays, every other Christmas, and getting them for half of their summer vacations. It's not too much to fucking ask for is it?" Dave replied. I didn't know if I should answer because I didn't exactly know if he was asking me a question.
"I don't think so. Maybe she's stalling because of me and James. Who knows what's going through her head. You'll get through this babe. Fuck that, we'll get through this. I'm not going anywhere and neither is our son," I said. I got up and sat on Dave's lap and he buried his head into my hair and neck. We each put an arm around each other and we just sat like that for a minute.
"You're kind of amazing you know that right?" Dave said as he looked at me. I smiled and chuckled softly as I put my forehead against his.
"If I am then it's all because of you. I've never been happier and that's all because of you," I replied. Dave kissed me as James started crying on the baby monitor.
