1 Week Later - November 6

11 Weeks

"Girls come on. Your mom will be here soon," Dave shouted up the stairs as I got to the top of them with the laundry.

"They're making sure they have their homework books. Just give them a little time," I said as I walked down the stairs.

"I just don't want another fight with her. She called and bitched me out because some dumb soccer mom at school saw you picking the girls up the one day I coudn't leave the studio and they told her. I'm sick of fighting her on everything," Dave said as he followed me to the laundry room. I started putting the clothes in the washer when the doorbell rang.

"Go get the door. We'll talk about this later," I said as I looked over my shoulder at him. He walked out of the laundry room as the door bell rang again. I heard him open the door and the girls running down the stairs. I started the washer and joined them in the entry way.

"Brittany," Jordyn said when she saw me.

"Jordyn," I said back.

"Say goodbye to dad girls. We gotta get going. Thanks again for taking them all week," Jordyn said.

"It wasn't an issue. We loved having them here all week," Dave replied as the girls said good bye to me. They then said good bye to Dave. As they where hugging him Jordyn looked me up and down and glared at me.

"Well Brittany you look good today. You look like you're glowing," Jordyn said in her normal bitchy tone.

"Uh thanks," I replied. I knew from the look she was giving me that she knew.

"Well come on girls let's go," Jordyn said as she started out the door. The girls yelled bye and hugged Dave again before leaving. Dave closed the door behind them and put his head down after. I walked over to him and rubbed his back.

"I know this won't help much but you'll see them in 5 days baby," I said. He turned around and looked at me.

"I know. I'm already counting down the minutes. Hopefully by the time our little one comes, this whole mess will be worked out. Then when I'm home we'll get the girls every other week and I can make good on that promise I made you," Dave replied as he held my hands.

"There's no rush for that. I'm happy with the way things are for now. I got you and that's more than I could ever want or ask for," I said as I let go of his hands and started towards the living room. It looked like a bomb went off in it after this past week.

"I'm glad you say that because I got something for you. I'll be right back," Dave said as he left and I started cleaning up a bit. When he came back, he walked over to me and took everything out of my hand before pulling a box out of his pocket and I shot him a look.

"It's not what you think it is. When we were talking one night, you mentioned something that just stuck out. This is because of that," Dave said as he handed me the small white box. I opened it and was surprised.

"Oh my god," I gasped.

"It's not an engagement ring. It's a promise ring. You said you always thought how cute and romantic they were and said you'd marry the guy that gave you one. I promise that I will never stop making you fall in love with me," Dave said and the tears started falling as he took the ring from me.

"I'll keep you to that," I replied as he put it on my finger. I looked at it once it was on my finger and smiled.

"So what do you think?" Dave asked as I continued to look at it.

"I love it and it suits me. I love you more than words can ever describe," I replied as I put my arms around his waist.

"I love you too beautiful. That was the one the second I saw it," Dave said as we hugged. I looked up and kissed him before letting go of him.
