~Alex's POV~
"Since when were there streets?" Jade asks, pointing at the new street signs before each road.
When we walked down the road before, we ended up at this intersection with four different roads available to us. The street straight ahead is named "Help Rd.", the street to our right is named "Amusement Arc", the street to our left is named "City Hall Ave.", and the street behind us— the one we just came from— is named "Hope's Peak Academy St.". In between "Help Rd." and "City Hall Ave.", there's another unlabeled road. Same with another between "Amusement Arc." and "Hope's Peak Academy St.". I can't help but feel skeptical about it. I'll check those out later—
Suddenly, the sound of wheels rolling on the concrete comes from the unnamed road between "City Hall Ave." and "Help Rd." We stare in that direction for some time, uneasy rising in my heart before I see a figure quickly growing closer and closer. Combining the wheel sounds and the primary purple, I immediately know who it is. A sigh of relief leaves my lips.
When he nears, they kick the tail of their board, which springs up and into his hand. He smiles at us, "Hey, Al. What are you guys doing standing here?"
I say, "We're exploring! Also, why are we back with that nickname? It's gonna spread..."
"Good, it'll embarrass you," Light laughs. He then continues, "If you're exploring, then you should go down there. There's this huge skatepark! It's awesome," Light suggests as he points behind him with his thumb.
"A skatepark?... D-Did you find anything else?" Charli mutters loud enough for me to catch.
Light raises an eyebrow, "Huh?"
"She's asking if that's all you've found."
"Oh. Yeah, I didn't go anywhere else as soon as I found that thing... How long have I been out here?" Light looks at Drake and points at him with his free hand. "And where have you been? I've been hunting you down ever since I saw you playing Luigi's Mansion."
Drake takes his hand out of his pockets and runs one through his hair. "I- uh... Ran away?"
Light gasps, "Ran away?! That cat couldn't have been that scary, right?"
"Hey, did you find anything or not?!" Jade fumes, cracking her knuckles.
"Woah, woah! I didn't find anything, chill," Light groans.
We continue the conversation for a moment more before Light heads off behind us. After some debating, we head down Help Rd. I remember we were here earlier and didn't get to notice much due to Jade and mine's goal being to find more people.
I recognize the hospital and the police station, but now I notice the bank, the fire station, and another unnamed road leading somewhere else. In the distance down the road, I can see poles with fairy lights connecting from one to another. There's also a fence surrounding something, but we're too far out to see it. With curiosity swarming my thoughts, I pivot and begin walking down this abandoned treelined road. I'm not sure if the others followed after me, and something inside is secretly hoping they did.
As I grow close to the fence, the atmosphere becomes colder and colder. I hug my arms and hold them as tightly against my body as I can. Once I'm in front of the fence, I realize what it is. It's an Ice skating rink. I hear footsteps quickly approaching behind me, but I can't take my eyes away from the beautiful sight. The lights surrounding the rink, the small piles of snow oddly placed around, it's just— It's all so fitting.
