~Alex's POV~
...
...
"Alex! C'mere really quick," K4t waves me over with a ball resting against her hip.
I look up at the girl across the field and smile at her. Placing my sketchbook into my bag, I stand up from the bench and walk over to the other side. When I reach her, she holds her volleyball out to me.
She then asks, "Can you serve this to me? I want to see if my bumping's gotten better."
"Yeah, of course!" I place my bag down next to her stuff and take the ball from her hands.
I back away a reasonable distance and prepare myself. K47 does as well. She squats down with her arms hanging. I serve the ball over the outdoor next and she moves quickly. She bumps the ball over at such a quick speed that I'm only able to set it up. K47 claps cheerfully... As she's cheering, her face deteriorates and begins to glitch.
The ball falls into my hands and I watch with confusion and slight fear... Soon enough, the fear accelerates as our surroundings begin to glitch and disintegrate. My hold on the ball tightens until it disappears and becomes... A fence?
Then, I realize where I am. I look up and see my younger brother skating in the bowl. There's someone else, too. Purple helmet with a purple Kuromi skateboard. They're both competing for first place. I scream out for Light to stop, and that his board is broken. He can't hear me... I can't hear myself. I rattle the fence and the chains ring in my ears as I continue to try and warn the younger Light.
It's too late. I watch in horror as he skates up the board and shoots up into the air. The young girl does the same. Her light-purple eyes glisten in summer's afternoon sun, her brunette hair flows gracefully behind her as she's in the air beside my brother... It's too late, and she realizes it, too. Her face contorts to fear as she tries to move away from him, but her board... Bumps into Light.
He loses his balance and comes plummeting to the ground backward. There's nothing I can do. There's nothing I can do. Tears well in my eyes and he almost makes contact with the ground and the blood's everywhere—
Someone shakes my shoulders, causing me to jump up from my pillow. I'm heavily breathing and tears are streaming down my hand. Someone gently holds my face in their hands and turns my gaze toward them. To my surprise, it's Jade.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" She asks in a hushed, soft voice.
I look at the door, which is creaked open. Then, I looked back at her, panicked.
"How... H-How did you—..."
She answers quickly before I spiral out of control, "I was wandering around the halls to make sure everyone was down in the main hall before I went. And I saw that you weren't. I heard panicking coming from in here and I asked Miss Misa if she'd be able to open the door so I could check on you. It's alright."
I'm at a loss for words. I try to get the tears to stop, but I can't. No matter how much I wipe them away, they're never-ending. Small sobs escape my lips and I can't control them. I'm scared. I'm scared and I'm tired of denying and subsiding it... I don't know how much longer I can do this.
