Chapter 6: All A Lie

~Drake's POV~

I asked, "... What did you want to talk about?" my grip tightened on the handle.

Sitting on the floor with his back against the wall, Jaxx struggles for breath. He swallows, exhales deeply, and whispers, "I just... Want you to listen right now. Don't do anything."

The urge to pull the trigger without any remorse dissipates slowly and my finger lifts from the smaller piece of metal. I lower the gun to my side. Why didn't I drop it earlier? Why did I stab him even though I didn't want to...?

"... What are you doing to me?" I ask in a subdued voice, but it's so cramped here that he'll be able to catch it.

Through sharp breaths, Jaxx says, "That's what I'm— ... Going to explain to you. I'll tell you everything, alright?"

I incline my head. The cold metal in my hand sends a shiver through me and I shudder. My vision constantly blurs, but I know it isn't from tears. I don't know what it is. My head's pounding against my skull and everything's aching.

"So," Jaxx begins, making a noncommittal noise in his throat, "... I'll explain everything to you. Everything you saw on that page that brought you here."

"Of course, you were the one to have left it."

A grin appears on his paling face. "Mhmm. Who did it belong to? Anyway... You already know about most of it. But, you're role in it is the most important part. The video proved my theory of what you are... Do you know?"

I think cautiously about my next answer. Then, I nod my head. "Yes. I know what I am... I found out in his room."

"So, you know who the mastermind is, too..."

I shake my head. Then, give a subtle shrug. "No... I think I only know one. Then again, I'm not sure."

A strained groan leaves Jaxx's lips. I stabbed him too far. Then again, it was out of my control, no matter what I could have done. I couldn't fight it.

"Again... I-I've warned you both," Jaxx stammers, inhaling sharply after his sentence. He's dying... I think. "I told you both I knew who the masterminds were... But, do you believe me? I told you about what you are, and you didn't show any reactions... Do you believe it?"

"That..." My finger trails along the trigger repeatedly, sending a stimulant to my brain to remind me that I'm in control. "I'm not...? Yes, I believe it. There's evidence behind it, too. That's why I left my bag in my room. I want them to find it... I already know where you're going with this."

"You do?"

"Of course, I do. I know how you work... You want me to kill you?"

Suddenly, Jaxx's voice drops. "I don't want any questions asked."

I can feel the gun rattling in my palm as my hands tremble. I don't notice I'm biting hard on my lip as I glare down at Jaxx. I'm in power right now... Why don't I walk out? I can turn around and leave if I so wish... Why am I still standing here?

"Why... Why are you doing this? This is stupid, this— ..."

"What do you mean 'Why am I doing this'?" A scoff arises from Jaxx as his grin grows. "I'm doing this to save you all. You're all going to die tonight, and I want to save you all before it happens..."
