~Alex's POV~
Everyone steps onto their podiums; everyone's steps echo into the empty room. Monokuma shimmies on his throne before exhaling comfortably. We all sneak a look at each other, yet the reticence between us doesn't falter. Anxiously— my palms sweating; I have to constantly wipe them on my dress— we wait for Monokuma's instructions.
"Alrighty, Kiddos," his voice echoes through the trial room. "Please take a look at the LCD touch panel built into your podiums!"
Complying, I deter my glassy eyes from the others and instead down at the panels in front of me. There are two buttons: Graduate; a bright button, and Repeat; a darker button with brighter words.
Monokuma continues, "Compared to the other trials, the rules are much simpler this time. There are two options: Graduate and Repeat. All you've gotta do— after you find Light's attacker— is choose one of them, and press it! All of you will cast your vote, and whichever one has the majority will be considered your final decision. If you don't press either of them, it will be treated as an absence and will not be counted. Which meeeeans, everyone who has died up till now will have their votes treated as absences!"
"... That's it?" Sora snarls, glaring up from the buttons and at Monokuma. "It's just a majority vote."
"AHEM!" Monokuma obnoxiously pats his chest before proceeding. "If the Graduate is chosen by a majority vote, from there, an event that's kind of like a graduation ceremony called 'the Graduation Program' will begin!"
Skye rocks her head back and forth haltingly. "So... If we just vote graduate... We'll be out of here! Yes, okay, so—"
Monokuma grows red in the face and shakes his head furiously. "No, you can't do that yet! You're not at all ready for the truth! You'll be knocked over by the harsh critique waiting ahead. And don't you dare try pressin' it! I can see you! You'll need a final say from your teachers, and right now, I say no!"
I hear Sora murmur under his breath in defeat. I glance up at the thrones beside Monokuma's. Miss Misa is frowning with her paws shakily folded in front of her; Moon is sitting elegantly with a stern expression over his sparkling eyes.
"But, even if you don't want to do it, you guys still need to do it to solve the mystery behind this all! You'd like the truth, right? The reason why you've been experiencing all of this?" Once again, Monokuma wobbles in his seat. From behind his back, he pulls out a rather large bucket of popcorn. "Afterward, you cast your majority votes... And from there, we move on to the Graduation Program"
"Why do we have to go through such a struggle?" Luca asks, eyeing the bear suspiciously.
Then, I confirmed, "Aren't we waiting for someone? You know, the special guest? They wanted to see the battle, too."
Monokuma hums curiously, lolling his big head to the side akin to a bobblehead accessory. When we continue to ask questions, I take notice of what Monokuma is trying to do. He's stalling. A frown pulls the corners of my lips and I roll my eyes. I didn't know we were so enjoyable that he'd want to keep us here longer.
"Nah, nah, don't worry about it! It has nothing to do with you, promise!"
"Are you kidding?! We're the last five, of course, it has something to do with us," Skye exclaims.
