"3...2...1... SHOT!" Kara shouted as her, Jiraiya and have a dozen random people all took a shot while lined up at the bar. After their meal, they headed to the dance bar next door and continued drinking.
"ANOTHER!" She shouted to the bartender.
"Wow, you can really drink," A random guy, standing next to her commented, with a flirtatious smirk.
Jiraiya raised an amused eyebrow at the interaction, watching as Kara turned to the stranger with a charming smile.
"I can hold my own," Kara replied confidently, her eyes glinting mischievously.
The random guy chuckled, clearly intrigued by Kara's boldness. "I like a woman who knows how to have a good time," he remarked, leaning in slightly.
Before things could go any further, Jiraiya smoothly stepped in, draping an arm around Kara's shoulders protectively. "She's already having a good time with me," he interjected with a friendly smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
The stranger backed off, sensing the subtle warning in Jiraiya's demeanour. Kara shot Jiraiya a grateful look before turning back to the bar, ordering another round of drinks for them both.
As they continued to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the dance bar, Jiraiya couldn't help but notice how carefree and spirited Kara looked in that moment. Her laughter rang through the air, and her eyes sparkled with mischief as she danced to the music.
As the night wore on and the drinks kept flowing, the atmosphere between them shifted. There was a comfortable familiarity in their interactions, a shared sense of camaraderie that had developed during their travels together. Jiraiya found himself opening up more than usual, sharing stories and jokes with Kara as they laughed together under the neon lights of the bar.
At one point, a slow song started playing, and Jiraiya impulsively held out his hand to Kara, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Care to dance?" he offered with a playful grin.
Kara's initial surprise quickly turned into a warm smile as she placed her hand in his, allowing him to lead her to the centre of the dancefloor.
The music wrapped around them in a soft melody, creating a bubble of intimacy amidst the chaotic energy of the bar. Jiraiya guided Kara with surprising grace, his movements fluid and sure as they swayed to the gentle rhythm.
"Who knew that Jiraiya the Gallant could dance" Kara quipped, a teasing glint in her eyes.
Jiraiya chuckled, his usual air of mischief replaced by a softer, more genuine expression. "I have many hidden talents," he replied, his voice low and warm.
"Thank you for tonight, Jiraiya," Kara said, her voice soft with genuine gratitude. "I really needed this."
"I'm glad I could take your mind off things, Kara," Jiraiya said softly, his eyes locked on hers.
As the song came to an end, they slowed to a stop, their gazes lingering on each other. The air between them crackled with unspoken words and emotions, a silent understanding passing between them.
Without breaking eye contact, Jiraiya reached out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind Kara's ear, his touch gentle and intimate. Kara's breath caught in her throat at the sudden closeness, her heart pounding in her chest, maybe it was the alcohol, but she didn't shift away from his touch.
Jiraiya hesitated for a split second, his thumb brushing lightly against Kara's cheek as he leaned in closer.
Jiraiya's gaze flickered between Kara's lips and her eyes, silently asking for permission. Without a word, Kara closed the gap between them, her lips meeting his in a soft, tentative kiss.
