You are Kaitlyn Routledge, 14. After your fathers disappearance you have grown closer than ever with your big brother and all his friends. This story is set 2 months after Big John went missing.
"John B!" Kaitlyn shouted before breaking into a coughing fit. "John B!" She shouted again winded from her coughing fit. "John B!" She whined wanting her brother. "What do you want?" He groaned from her doorway tiredly rubbing his eyes. "Can you open the window? Please?" She whines. "Do it yourself." He scoffs walking back to his room annoyed she woke him to open her damn window. He froze when he heard her coughing up a lung. "Shit. You alright?" John B said immediately turning back around. "No. It's too hot. Can you open the window?" She whispers voice hoarse. "Yeah. Hang on." He says flipping the lights on and opening her window. The cool breeze immediately provided the feverish girl some relief. "Did you pee the fucking bed? You're soaked." John B frowns glancing over at his sister who had kicked all pillows and blankets on the floor. "No! Fuck off. I don't feel good." She snapped glaring at him, it didn't hold its usual effect seeing how exhausted she looked. "I'm not being mean. You sweated through your sheets." John B says rolling his eyes and pressing a cool hand against her flushed cheeks. "You're burning up." He frowns sitting on the edge of her bed. "I feel horrible." She whines snuggling her head into his lap needing her brother's comfort. "What do you want me to do?" He questions playing with her damp brown hair. "I want Dad." She says tears starting to roll down her cheeks in her feverish state. "I know Katie... I do too." He whispers hating seeing her like this. "How about some Tylenol? That sound okay?" John B offers. She nods and sits up against the headboard before breaking into another coughing fit. He rubs her back waiting for her to stop before heading to the kitchen. "I will be right back." He calls over his shoulder. "Can you bring a bucket too?" She calls out making John B hurry up. He grabbed a cup of water, a bottle of Tylenol, and a bucket quickly bringing all three back to her room.
"Are you nauseous?" John B frowns as she snatches the bucket from his hands immediately leaning over it. "Mhm." She hums trying her best to steady her breathing. "Shit..." John B mutters nervously. His father always took care of them. He was the one who always comforted and cured their scraped knees and sick stomachs. Now he was gone leaving the siblings only each other to lean on.
John B was pulled out of his thoughts when his sister lurched depositing her stomach contents into the bucket. It was foamy and watery and smelled disgusting. "You're ok." John B whispers rubbing her back. "This sucks." She whimpers leaning against her older brother exhausted and defeated. "I know Katie. I know. How are you feeling?" He questions gently. "Horrible." She says crying into his chest. "Are you going to throw up again?" John B questions hesitantly. "No." She whispers. "Ok. Take a breath." John B soothes. Once she had calmed down enough he grabbed the Tylenol handing her two pink pills. "Take a small sip." He instructs handing her the water. She swallows the pills with a slight struggle before giving the water back to her brother. "Alright. Get changed, you are sweaty and disgusting. I am going to get the couch set up. We can watch a movie and just relax ok?" John B offers. She nods and gets up realizing her shirt is wet with sweat. "Gross." She mumbles finding new clothes while John B sets up the couch for a movie night.
"John B?" Kaitlyn questions peering up at her big brother from her spot on the couch. "Hm?" He questions through a yawn. It was about 5 in the morning and the two have been up for hours. "Thank you for taking such good care of me." She whispers. "Always." John B says with a small smile. "I love you." She whispers. "Love you too Katie."
