"If she really wanted out, she'd done something."

My eyes flutter open and I take in a deep breath. Immediately, the pain in my face and under my eye is throbbing. The first thing I notice is the sky above me. I can hear sobs off to my left, sounding like Carol, followed with coughs and gargles. I slowly turn my head and see Ed lying on the ground, his face beaten into a bloody pulp. And what feels even worse, Carol kneeled right down by his side and her sobbing hysterically and apologizing over and over again. I furrow my brows, wasn't entirely sure whether I was confused or almost offended by the fact that Andrea, Amy, Jacquie and I defended this woman to her abusive husband and this is how she thanks us? Hell, I took a damn punch to the face. God, now I know how my friends must've felt when I ran back to my abusive ex.

I roll onto my side and force myself up. Immediately, spots of blood drip onto the ground and I lift my hand up, touching my left eye. I bring my hand back down and see my fingertips covered in blood. Lovely.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't get up too fast, sweetie." Jacquie's soothing voice fills my ears and she slowly helps me up off the ground.

"Are you okay?" Amy questions me.

"I'm okay." I reassure everyone.

"Let me take a look." Shane approaches us. He gently pulls down on my face and I hiss out in pain. "Yeah, got you good. Looks like you're gonna need stitches." He claims. I huff out a laugh.

"Ah, perfect." I nod.

Amy, Andrea and Jacquie returned back to the laundry. Eventually, Ed and Carol had made their way back to camp. Shane had driven me back to camp and we head off inside the RV. Morales soon entered into the RV and brought up a first aid kit. I raise an eyebrow as I never took Morales as a nurse or something.

"Are you a nurse or something?" I ask Morales.

"Nope." He claims as he opens up the first aid kit.

"Then how do you know how to do stitches?" I ask him.

"I've learned how to do it." He nods. "I used to be in med school."

"What for exactly?"

"Dentistry."

"Yeah, okay, uh..." I huff out a sigh. "No offense, but I know there won't be anything to numb my face for the stitching, so just give me a mirror and everything I need." I say. Morales and Shane give me odd looks. "Look, I used to sow myself up all the time, it's no big deal." Shane and Morales exchange looks before Shane finally nods his head and allows me to stitch my own face. Shane hands me a small mirror and Morales gives me everything I needed. I first clean the cut, inspecting the damage beneath the blood. Next, I disinfect it. Finally, I began stitching my own face. I know my eye will be black and swollen, along with a nice three inch cut beneath my eye. It was bound to happen at some point, right?

"Really stupid of you to go after Ed like that, you know." Shane claims.

"Yeah, well, somebody did." I say, keeping my face as still as possible as I gently pull the thread through my skin.

"Got you with his ring, didn't he?" He asks.

"Mmhmm." I answer.

"Could've been worse if I wasn't there." Shane sighs out.

"Uh, huh."

"Are you even listening?"

"Not really. I'm really trying to focus here." Shane chuckles and remains silent for the remainder of time until I had finished. I lean back in the table and let out a sigh.
