Moody Brother

On the train ride back to school I sit with the Slytherins. My pigmy puff on my shoulder who I named Cosmo. Draco and I make up in no time, he pulls me aside as soon as I get on the train. "I'm sorry I yelled at you Draco." I blurt out, instantly feeling bad. "It's okay, I kind of needed it. This is about my task. I have to kill Dumbledore" He tells me, looking down at his feet. Blimey that's worse than mine." I mutter, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'm here to help, remember that Draco." I continue. He looks up at me and smiles. Something I haven't seen my brother do in a while. We make our way to our other Slytherin friends and I take a seat opposite Blaise and Pansy. We listen to our friends talk about their holidays, but Draco and I stay silent. Until Pansy yells my name. "Asteria" "What no need to yell. I'm right here." I tell her giving her an evil look. "What's that ugly looking thing on youre shoulder." She blurts. "First of all hes not ugly, hes adorable" I mutter, tickeling under his little nose. "Eww" Pansy moans. "Don't look at me then Pug-face." I demand poking my tongue out at her. "Hey stop it you too" Blaise tells us off. "She started it" Pansy moans again, batting her eyelashes at Blaise. "Bloody Hell Pansy" I mutter so only Draco could hear. He chuckles as we go back to being silent.

About halfway through the train ride Draco starts pacing down the train. "What was that? Blaise?" Draco asks, as a black smoke fills the Slytherin area of the train. "Don't know" He answers. "Relax, boys. It's probably just a first-year messing around. Come on, Draco. Sit down. We'll be at Hogwarts soon." Pansy says. I roll my eyes. I know exactly what this is, its Instant Darkness powder.

Draco finally sits down next to me. "Hogwarts. What a pathetic excuse for a school. I'd pitch myself off the Astronomy Tower if I had to continue for another two years." Draco moans. "What's that supposed to mean?" A confused Pansy asks. "Let's just say I don't think you'll see us wasting our time in Charms class next year." He continues. "Hey don't involve me. I still like my classes." I add, receiving a glance from my brother. "Amused, Blaise?" Draco says as Blaise lets out a laugh. "We'll see just whose laughing in the end." Draco mutters. What's gotten into him I think before resting my back against the window. Suddenly just above us in the luggage compartment, a bag moves. Draco and I look at each other. I place my hands around my eyes, motioning glasses. Draco understands and nods.

As we arrive at the station Blaise and Pansy gather their bags. Pansy looks back at us still sitting in our seats. "You two go on. I wanna talk to Astra." As the carriage clears, Draco stands up to grab our bags. He hands me my bag before he walks up and closes the carriage door and pulls the blinds down. I wave my wand to pull down all the other blinds, so no one can see inside. "Didn't mummy ever tell you it was rude to eavesdrop, Potter?" Draco says before turning around and casting 'Petrificus Totalus' on Harry, who is under the invisibility cloak. He falls to the floor with a thud. As I pull the invisibility cloak off him I notice he's motionless on the floor. "Oh, yeah, she was dead before you could wipe the drool off your chin." Draco insults him. Then he kicks him in the face. "That's for my father. Enjoy your ride back to London." He says, before throwing the cloak back over Harry's body. "Why did you have to do that Draco. You know he had nothing to do with Father going to Azkaban." I whisper as we both walk off the train. "I don't care." He demands, walking off ahead of me.

This is going to be an Interesting year if I have to put up with his moods all the time.

"What's this cane here, then?" Filch mutters, going through our luggage. In front of our new guards some Auror's I recognize from the Ministry. "It's not a cane, you cretin. It's a walking stick." Draco grumbles. "And what exactly would you be wanting with a walking stick? It could be construed as an offensive weapon." He continues. "It's our fathers" I grumble back, helping Draco out. "It's all right, Mr. Filch I can vouch for the Malfoy's." Snape intervenes. Draco violently grabs fathers cane out of filches hand. "Nice face, Potter." I say looking over at Harry with blood all over his face from my brother kicking him. Draco laughs before we both wander to the school.

In the great hall the usual happens the first years get sorted into their houses then the food appears. I don't eat much just nibble on some bacon, then when dessert comes I dig into some Crème Brûlée. "Very best of evenings to you all. First off, let me introduce the newest member of our staff Horace Slughorn." Dumbledore announces, as the new Professor stands and everyone applauds. "Professor Slughorn, I'm happy to say, has agreed to resume his old post as Potions Master. Meanwhile, the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts will be taken by Professor Snape." All the Slytherins clap, except my brother he's not even listening at all. He's in his own little world. "Now, as you know, each and every one of you was searched upon your arrival here tonight. And you have the right to know why. Once there was a young man, who, like you, sat in this very hall, walked this castle's corridors, slept under its roof. He seemed to all the world a student like any other. His name? Tom Riddle." He tells us. Well that names familiar. I look over to the Gryffindor table to try spot Ginny, as I know she will be worried as he freaked her out in her first year. "Today, of course, he's known all over the world by another name. Which is why, as I stand looking out upon you all tonight I'm reminded of a sobering fact. Every day, every hour, this very minute, perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon is you. Just something to think about. Now, off to bed. Pip-pip." Dumbledore finally finishes. I nudge Draco to get up from the table. "Ouch," He moans. "Oh whatever that didn't hurt." I demand, before walking off to the common room with Blaise.

Draco slopes off to bed without a word. "What's his problem," Blaise asks me as we sit on the couches in the common room. "Oh nothing, he's just in a mood with me." I tell him to try get him off the whole idea. Cosmo scuttles down down my shoulder and onto the table in front of us. "Where did you get him from." Blaise asks me. I pull out some treats I stashed in my pocket for him, thinking of how I should reply. "Uhh Fred and George's joke shop." I guess I decided on telling him the truth. "Nice my mother had one when I was younger. It didn't like her though" He tells me. We talk and laugh for a few hours before both heading off to bed.
