CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN azkaban's escapee

𝐋𝐘𝐑𝐀 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐑 on the table, her knee bouncing anxiously. She was hoping for a quiet, peaceful year at Hogwarts without anything bringing more attention to her, but it was just her luck that her cousin had escaped from Azkaban Prison.
"Morning, Lyra," Narcissa greeted her as she walked into the dining room. She frowned when she saw her reading that morning's Daily Prophet. She quickly grabbed it and crumpled it up. "I told Lucius to put this away. You weren't supposed to see that."
"If Dobby was still here he would've put it up," Draco muttered bitterly, glaring at Lyra. "Why did you give him that sock?"
"He wanted to be free!" Lyra snapped at him. "He hated it here!"
"We have to do everything ourselves now!"
"Merlin's sake, Draco, let it go!"
"No! You lost us our house elf!"
"Because Lucius was a git and nearly got me killed! It wouldn't hurt your spoiled arse to do something for yourself for a change!"
"Draco, Lyra, stop!" Narcissa raised her voice. The two 13 year olds stared at her, the younger swallowing nervously. She never yelled at them. That was something they were used to with Bellatrix and Lucius, but never from Narcissa. "You've been having this argument all summer. Lyra's right. It's time to let it go, Draco," she said, her voice softening.
"I won't. Not until she apologizes for setting Dobby free!"
"I won't apologize for helping a friend!"
Draco scoffed. "He's a house elf! He's not a friend!"
Narcissa sighed and pressed two fingers to her temple as the two began shouting at each other again. She went over to the cupboard and poured a glass of red wine, taking a long drink.
"Both of you SHUT UP!" Bellatrix yelled as she appeared in the doorway. Lyra got up from the table and stormed out of the room. "Lyra Marceline—!"
"Oh, shut it, Bellatrix Druella!" Lyra sent her a glare over her shoulder before stomping up the stairs to her room, slamming the door behind her. She collapsed face-first onto her bed, buried her face in her pillow, and screamed.
She hated this family. She absolutely loathed it here. Draco had been a git ever since learning that she had freed Dobby and was treating her nearly as bad as he would treat Harry, Ron, or Hermione.
