𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 until they reached the end of the tunnel, which led up into the Shrieking Shack. Blood coated the rotting floorboards. They followed the trail upstairs and found Ron sitting on an ottoman, Scabbers clutched tightly in his hands.
"Ron! You're okay!" Hermione rushed in, the others behind her.
"The dog," Harry said. "Where is it?"
"Harry, it's a trap!" Ron pointed his shaky finger at someone behind the group of friends. "He's the dog! He's an animagus!"
They scanned the trail of paw prints, their gazes meeting that of Sirius Black. Lyra gasped in fear when he stared at her, shuffling to hide behind Aliyah. Did he recognize her? Would he hurt her like he was going to hurt Harry?
Sirius stepped forward. Dakota did too. She pulled out her wand as she stepped in front of her friends. "If you want to kill Harry, you're going to have to kill us, too," she said, her voice steady despite the fear shooting through her.
"No," Sirius said menacingly. "Only one will die tonight."
"Then it'll be you!" Harry pushed past his cousin and lunged at Sirius. He grabbed him by the throat and pinned him down on the floor. He took his wand out of his jacket pocket, pointing it at his head.
Sirius merely laughed. "Are you going to kill me, Harry?"
Lupin barged in and quickly disarmed Harry, nodding for him to get out of the way. Dakota grabbed his arm and pulled him protectively close to her. "Well, well, Sirius," Lupin said as he approached the man, his wand pointed at him. "Looking rather ragged, aren't we? Finally, the flesh reflects the madness within."
"Well, you'd know all about the madness within, wouldn't you, Remus?" Sirius chuckled. Lupin smiled. He reached a hand out to help him up, the two embracing each other.
Dakota scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief. "It's always the Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers. Every fucking time."
"I found him," Sirius said to Lupin.
"I know," Lupin replied.
"It's him."
"I understand."
"Let's kill him!"
"No!" Hermione shouted, staring at Lupin with a look of betrayal. "I trusted you! And all this time. . .you've been his friend." She turned to her friends and pointed a finger at Lupin. "He's a werewolf! That's why he's been missing classes."
