𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐍 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 after Harry told them what had happened between him and Lyra in the bathroom. The Half-Blood Prince's copy of Advanced Potions Making sat on the table in front of him.

He kept replaying that moment in his mind. He had acted without thinking by using an unknown spell on someone who was supposed to be his friend, and it had almost cost Lyra her life. She'd been through enough trauma already without adding being sliced open and almost bleeding to death to the list.

Dakota was the first to break the thick silence. "You tried to kill her?!" She jumped up from where she had been sitting beside Hermione. "Have you lost your fucking mind?! What the fuck, Harry?!"

"I didn't mean to!" Harry defended himself.

"You never use a spell you don't know on anyone. Ever. No matter what the circumstances are!"

"You have to get rid of it," Hermione stated. "Today."

Harry nodded. He reached for the book, but Aliyah snatched it off the table. "Ali, I can't dispose of it if you're holding it hostage."

"And, no offense, but I don't think you can be trusted not to go back to retrieve it if you know where it is," Aliyah retorted. "We can't risk it. Enough damage has been done already. It's better if I go hide this somewhere while you guys figure out how Harry can get that memory out of Slughorn."

The memory in question was one of a young Voldemort – Tom Riddle – speaking with Professor Slughorn about something. The memory had been tampered with when Dumbledore showed it to Harry in the pensieve, and the headmaster had tasked him with coaxing the real memory out of the potions master's mind.

"Still no luck with that, I'm guessing?" Ron asked as Aliyah left the Gryffindor common room.

Harry's eyes suddenly lit up. "Luck. That's it! All I need is a bit of luck!" He stood up and strode over to the portrait hole before turning back around. "Which of you knows how to break into the Hufflepuff common room?"

"Harry, you really have bloody lost your mind." Dakota frowned deeply. "First you try to kill Lyra, and now you want to steal from her, too?"

"I-It's not stealing. Not exactly. It's more like. . .borrowing. And besides, I won't need to drink the whole thing. A few drops should do. Do you know how to break in or not, Kody?"

Dakota sighed. "Yeah, I do." She walked over to her cousin, and they left the common room. "If we get caught, I'm gonna strangle you, Hairball."
