CHAPTER NINETY-ONE
the battle of hogwarts

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐎𝐆𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐒, Ron hugged Hadley tightly whilst Tonks wrapped Lyra in a warm embrace. She hugged Sirius next, chuckling when he ruffled her wavy blonde hair.

The Legacies waited outside of the Great Hall, where Snape was speaking with the student body. He was telling them that it came to his attention that Harry was spotted in Hogsmeade, and that anyone who attempted to conceal him would be treated as equally guilty. He then invited anyone who knew about his whereabouts to step forward.

It was at this time that Harry stepped forward. He had disguised himself with the other Gryffindors by putting on his old robe and blending in with them. "It seems, despite your exhaustive defensive strategies, you still have a bit of a security problem, headmaster," he said as the doors to the Great Hall opened and the Legacies entered with the rest of the Order. "And I'm afraid it's quite extensive. How dare you stand where he stood. Tell them how it happened that night! Tell them how you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him! Tell them."

Snape pulled out his wand, bringing gasps from the students gathered in the Hall. McGonagall rushed forward, pushing Harry behind her. Snape hesitated a moment and lowered his wand, but quickly raised it again when he remembered that the Carrows were behind him, watching his every move. He had to keep up the Death Eater act so they wouldn't suspect he was a double agent.

McGonagall shot the first spell, which he blocked. As she continued to fire spells at him, he backed away, blocking and redirecting them to knock out the Carrows. When that was done, he wrapped himself in his cloak, flying out of the window in a puff of black smoke.

As the Hall erupted in cheers, Dakota couldn't help but feel a little resentment towards her classmates. She exchanged a look with Lyra, who had also taken notice of the way Snape had redirected the spells to hit the Carrows. Everyone thought that he was a villain, but they were the only ones to believe that he truly was a good person deep down.

A scream suddenly rang out, followed by another, and then another. It was some first year girls; something had happened that terrified them, and Dakota had a terrible feeling that she knew what – or who – it was.

"I know that many of you will want to fight," Voldemort's snake-like voice echoed through the Great Hall. Lyra covered her ears as Aliyah pulled her into a comforting hug, a protective hand on the back of her head. Dakota looked around, even pulling out her wand in case she needed to defend herself, but he was nowhere to be seen. "Some of you may even think that to fight is wise. But this is folly. Give me Harry Potter. Do this, and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave Hogwarts untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded. You have one hour."
