Hadley seemed to be doing fairly well considering what happened at the Ministry. That, or she was really good at covering it up. Ron told them that she had spent nearly the entire summer locked in her room, only coming out for meals and to help Fred and George with the store. He also said that she was scarily good at pretending that she was okay when she wasn't. She'd turned to coping with dark humour that had begun to concern her mother.
"Isn't she starting Auror training soon?" Aliyah asked as they looked at fake wands.
"She and Ophelia were supposed to start together." Ron nodded. "She hasn't said anything about it, though. I think it's hard for her to think about since. . .you know."
Aliyah smiled sadly, blinking a few times when she felt her eyes tearing up. She glanced over at Hadley, who was having a hushed conversation with Neville. "God, I feel so bad for them," she whispered. "Lyra, too. They were really close."
"How is Lyra, anyway?" Ron asked. "I haven't heard from her all summer."
"I haven't, either. I just hope she's okay."
"Well. . .we'll find out soon enough." He picked something up off the shelf and went over to where his older siblings were walking up the stairs to the second floor. "How much for this?"
"Five galleons," the triplets replied.
Ron frowned. "How much for me?"
The triplets stared at him. "Five galleons."
Ron looked hurt. "I'm your brother."
The triplets exchanged a look and shrugged. "Ten galleons."
"Hadley Weasley!" a voice shouted.
Hadley groaned. "Oh, no. It's Tonks. She probably wants to talk to me about Auror training. Quick, hide me!"
Fred and George stepped in front of their sister as Ron and his friends left the store.
"How are the triplets doing it?" Hermione asked, glancing around the deserted alley. It had never been this dark and lifeless before. "Half the alley's closed down."
"Fred reckons people need a laugh these days," Ron said.
"I reckon he's right," Harry agreed.
They passed Ollivander's, which was completely abandoned. As they walked in to take a look, Aliyah noticed a familiar blonde out of the corner of her eye. She squinted her eyes to get a better look; Lyra was being dragged into Knockturn Alley by Bellatrix, Narcissa and Draco following behind them.
