𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐂𝐊 with Gilderoy Lockhart as their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Dakota, Lyra, and Aliyah didn't understand why all the girls were swooning over him. First of all, he was twice their age, and second, he was a cocky jerk who Dakota was convinced was in love with himself.
"This class is gonna suck arse with that idiot as our professor," Dakota grumbled, crossing her arms and sinking down in her seat.
"Be positive, Kota," Hermione said, sighing dreamily as their professor stepped out onto the small balcony attached to his office.
"I'm positive this class is gonna suck arse with that idiot as our professor."
"Let me introduce you to your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Me," Lockhart said. Dakota rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Gilderoy Lockhart. Order of Merlin, Third Class. Honorary member of the Dark Force Defense League, and five times winner of Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award."
"He's too old for you, Hermione," Dakota whispered, scowling at the love-struck way she was looking at their professor. "You can do so much better than him."
"I mean, he's not even good looking," Aliyah whispered to Lyra, who nodded. "Now, your sister, she's good looking. Not him."
"Don't talk about my sister like that." Lyra frowned.
"Don't worry, I'm talking about Narcissa."
"Still, don't talk about my sister like that. It's weird."
"But I don't talk about that," Lockhart continued. "I didn't get rid of the Bandon Banshee by smiling at her." He flashed them a pearly white smile. Dakota scratched her nails down her face, groaning as she leaned her head forward onto her desk. She banged it against it a few times. Hermione frowned and pulled her up by the hood of her cloak. "I see you've all bought a complete set of my books. Well done."
"Not like we had a choice," Dakota muttered.
"Now, I thought we'd start today with a little quiz," Lockhart declared as he picked up a stack of papers. Aliyah perked up instantly. She was always ready for a test. "Nothing to worry about. Just to check how well you've read them."
"It's the first bloody day?" Dakota muttered, scoffing. "Of course I didn't read them." She frowned deeply as the quiz was placed in front of her. They were all personal questions about Lockhart that no student should need to know the answer to. "What the hell kinda teacher is he? I'm not doing this."
"You have 30 minutes. Start!"
Dakota crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. She pursed her lips together, her eyes narrowing as she glared at the man. Hermione eagerly got to work, and even Aliyah, who didn't care for him at all, knew the answer to each question. Both girls had read through all their textbooks before the term began.
Thirty minutes later, Lockhart picked up the papers. He looked through them, disappointed at the lack of correct answers. Dakota was about ready to call the Muggle police on him when he called Hermione a good girl and winked at her for knowing that his secret ambition was to rid the world of evil and market his own range of hair care potions.
"Now, be warned," Lockhart said, whipping out his wand as he finally got on to the day's lesson. "It is my job to arm you against the foulest creatures known to wizard kind."
