𝐅𝐀𝐍𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐗𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐒, 𝐃𝐔𝐑𝐌𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐇𝐎𝐆𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐒 students gathered in an arena for the first task.
Hermione went with Dakota to the tent where the champions were waiting. Hermione whispered into an opening, "Psst!" as a shadow appeared on the other side. "Harry, is that you?"
"Yeah," Harry replied.
"How are you feeling?" Dakota asked. "Okay? O-Or like you're about to be burned alive? Or. . . ?"
"The key is to concentrate," Hermione told him. "After that, you just have to—"
"Battle a dragon," Harry said like it was no big deal. Dakota chuckled. Hermione pushed the curtain open and threw her arms around him, a camera flashing as their picture was taken.
A woman with short blonde hair walked in. Dakota scowled at her. This was Rita Skeeter, a writer for the Daily Prophet who had completely lied about Harry in a recent article to make it look like he was actively seeking attention by entering the Triwizard Tournament.
"Ah. Young love," Rita sighed. "Oh, how. . ." she paused, trying to find the right words, "stirring."
"Hermione and Harry are just friends," Dakota said, glaring at her.
Rita smirked a little. "Oh? Do I sense a tad of jealousy?"
"What?" Dakota scoffed. "Um, gross! Harry is my cousin."
"That never stopped the purebloods," Rita said, winking at Dakota before turning to Harry and Hermione. "If everything goes unfortunately today, you two may even make the front page!"
Ophelia approached them, her eyes narrowing at Rita. "You have no business being in here," she stated. "This tent is for champions and friends. Not nosy reporters that like to make stuff up for unnecessary drama."
Ophelia had her own bone to pick with Rita Skeeter. She had tried to make it look like she had something against Lyra by twisting her words when she asked about their friendship. It took a lot of reassurance, but Lyra eventually believed her when she said that she never told Rita the things she wrote about in her article.
Rita's mouth opened and closed as she stared at the tall brunette. "No matter," she finally said, shrugging. "We've, uh. . .got what we wanted." She snapped another picture before leaving, Ophelia flipping her off as she did.
"Good day, champions," Dumbledore greeted them as he walked into the tent. "Gather round, please. Now, you've waited, you've wondered, and at last, the moment has arrived. A moment only four of you can fully appreciate." He then noticed the three extra students. "What are you doing here, Miss Granger, Miss Dursley, and Mr. Longbottom?"
