CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE
escape to the ministry

"𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐘, 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄?" Dakota asked as they followed Harry up another flight of stairs. Her cousin had said that Voldemort had shown him a vision of Sirius being tortured.

"I saw it!" Harry insisted. "It's just like with Mr. Weasley. It's the same door I've been dreaming about for months, only I couldn't remember where I'd seen it before. Sirius said that Voldemort was after something. Something he didn't have the last time, and it's in the Department of Mysteries!"

"Harry, please just listen," Hermione said as they came to a stop on one of the moving staircases. "What if Voldemort meant for you to see this? What if he's only hurting Sirius because he's trying to get to you?"

"She's got a point," Hadley agreed, folding her arms. "You guys have already put yourselves into so much danger over these last five years. What if you're just walking right into his trap?"

"What if I am?" Harry shrugged. "I'm supposed to just let him die? Aside from Kody, he's the only family I've got left. He's some of the only family that Lyra has that's actually loving to her. We can't. . .We can't just hang around here when he's being tortured right now."

There were shared looks among the group before Ron asked what they should do. Harry said that they would have to use the Floo network. Aliyah pointed out that Umbridge had the chimneys on surveillance, but Harry told her not all of them were.

They broke into her obnoxiously pink office, Neville closing the door behind them. Harry instructed Ophelia and Hadley to alert the order if they could. The redhead took out the enchanted notebook that Tonks had given to her and Ophelia to get in touch with her in case of an emergency and began scribbling a message.

"We're going with you, Harry," Dakota declared.

"It's too dangerous," Harry argued.

"Which is exactly why we're going with you," Ophelia stated.

"When are you going to get it into your head?" Dakota asked, kneeling down beside Harry. She placed a hand on his shoulder. "We're in this together."

"That— you— are!" a voice snapped from behind them.

Dakota's jaw clenched. She exhaled sharply through her nose and stood up to face Umbridge. "Listen here, Umbitch, we don't have time for your dictatorship bullshit right now. This is a family emergency."

But Umbridge didn't want to hear it. Her Inquisitorial Squad quickly showed up to keep them from escaping as she shoved Harry into a chair for interrogation. She placed her hands on her knees and leaned over. "You were going to Dumbledore, weren't you?"
