"𝐋𝐘𝐑𝐀, 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐄."
Hearing her older nephew's voice, Lyra Black turned away from her open bedroom window. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. Bandages poked out from under the sleeve of her hoodie. It had been a cruel summer, and she needed to get as far away from Malfoy Manor as possible. She had waited until everyone was asleep so that she could run away and be gone long before morning. Unfortunately, someone else had been awake to try and stop her.
"I can protect you." Draco stepped up to her. "I can do better. I won't let them hurt you."
"We're only fifteen, dragon." Lyra sighed, blinking back tears. "It's not safe for me here, don't you see that? It's never been. Not since I was sorted into Hufflepuff. And now that the Dark Lord is staying with us, so. . ." She shook her head. "I have to leave."
There was a sound from the other side of her bedroom door. She gripped the handle on her trunk, communicating silently to Draco, begging him with her eyes to understand.
Draco nodded after a moment. He walked over and hugged her tightly, whispering, "I'll cover for you here. Please be safe, blondie, and write to me when you get to wherever you're going."
"I can't do that, Draco," Lyra responded quietly. "If you know where I am, she'll know where I am."
"Okay. . .You're right. I was being stupid. . .Um, I-I guess I'll see you at school, then."
Lyra forced a wobbly smile. "See you at school." She gave him one last hug goodbye and added, "I love you, Dray."
"I love you more, Lye," Draco replied.
Lyra tossed her packed trunk out of the window of her second floor bedroom. She took a deep breath before jumping down, landing with a thud on the grass below. Her body ached from the less than graceful landing, but she couldn't wait around for Bellatrix, Lucius, or the Dark Lord to find out she escaped. She took one last look at her bedroom window, which Draco had shut, before grabbing her trunk and fleeing from the grounds.
She'd been in contact with Aliyah and Ophelia all summer. They'd told her that they and their friends had been staying at Sirius Black's family manor: number 12 Grimmauld Place. It was headquarters to a secret society called the Order of the Phoenix, which her older niece, Tonks, had just been inducted into.
Once she was far away from the manor, she extended her wand arm out to summon the Knight Bus. One bumpy ride later, and she was standing outside of Sirius's manor.
