(43) "You Are Not My Mother"

Two days later,

Bucky had been home for two days, when Martin called James to see if he was feeling better.

"Hey Marty. What's up?" 

"Hey I was calling to see if Little J was feeling better." Martin said 

"What are you talking about?" James said 

"Oh crap, I forgot to call you. I sent him home two days ago sick as a dog he was puking everywhere had a fever. I meant to call you but then there was a fight in the lunchroom and I left him with the nurse." Martin said 

James went upstairs, and opened the door to Bucky"s room. He saw the puke bucket by his bed, ginger ale and sprite everywhere. Bucky was sleeping, so he walked over to him. 

He felt his head, "Oh James Buchanan.." he said 

"Mm..go away.." Bucky mumbled 

"No come on let's go downstairs son.." James helped him up.

"Dad no sleep.." Bucky whispered 

James helped him stand up and got him downstairs, he found the thermometer once he got downstairs. He took his temperature while he laid his head down. 

"Buchanan why didn't you call me? I've been on a 48 hour shift the last two days you know that your immune system isn't like your siblings you catch everything." James said as he paced. 

The thermometer beeped, he took it out of his ear "Damn it James, it's 102.." James said 

He got a cool wash cloth and laid it on the back of his neck. 

"Um, James I can stay home with him while you go back to work I know you have that board meeting this morning since you are now on the hospital board." Ophelia said 

Bucky looked up at her, "You are not my mother I don't need you.." he said as he took off the wash cloth and left the room. 

"Buchanan! You get back here! Sick or not that was totally disrespectful!" James yelled 

"Leave me alone! You want to forget mom or replace her that's on you! But I will not let that woman touch me!" Bucky snapped 

"You will apologize son." James said 

"No I won't." Bucky said as he slammed the door to his room..

A few hours later, James sat some fever reducer on his nightstand while he slept. Around dinner time Bucky came downstairs to eat. 

"Did you take that medicine?" James said 

"I'm fine dad.." Bucky said 

Half way through dinner, James saw Bucky's eyes began to roll. 

"James..what's wrong?" He said 

Bucky fell out of his chair and began to seize on the floor, James rushed over to him got him in his side. 

"Call 911.." James yelled 

Ophelia called 911, EMTs rushed to the house. James called Delilah to meet him in the ER. 

"James what the hell?" Delilah said when she saw him come into the ER, 

"He has the flu..and has had it the last two days with a extremely high temp. He just seized at the dinner table." James said 

"He had another one with the EMTs." Delilah said 

"You paged me Delilah?" Dr Amelia Tucker said 

"Yes my nephew is in this is my brother James. Come with me." Delilah said as they went to the exam room.

When they walked in, "I already got him started on fluids and a fever reducer James." Delilah said 

"Ok.." Dr Tucker said as she began to assess him. 

"Mmm stop I wanna go home.." Bucky groaned 

"James James look at me it's Aunt Delilah.." she said 

"Dellie I want to go home..please.." he said 

"Little J look at me honey you can't go home we have to admit you. You had two seizures due to your high fever. I know you hate hospitals but we need you better." Delilah said 

"No no I want to go home now!" He said as his eyes began to roll. 

"J stay with me.." Delilah said as he began to seize. 

Once they got him calm Dr Tucker ordered a low dose sedative and got him on oxygen. James sat down in the room they admitted him to. 

He sent out a text to his siblings, and then he heard Bucky's phone ringing in his pants. He saw that if was Reign. 

"Reign its James.." he said when he answered 

"Is he ok? Is something wrong?" Reign said. 

"He's been admitted to hospital honey, he let his fever get to high and he started seizing." James said 

She gasped! 

"He's ok now, we got him hooked up to fluids, a fever reducer and he is sedated and on oxygen." James said 

"Oh my gosh! I will come see him tomorrow!" She said 

"Ok.." he said 

The next day, she came in to the room. 

"Bucky.." she whispered 

He started to wake up, "Reign.." he whispered 

"What the hell were you thinking?! You could of died!" She yelled 

"Reign don't yell at me.." he said 

"I will yell if I want to! Don't do this Again! If you needed someone to help take care of you then you should of said something! Quit being this independent stubborn asshole! Because I can't bury another person!" She yelled 

"Reign..stop." he said 

"I can't lose you Buck you are my only friend and you scared me." She said 

"Please don't cry.." he said as he got up and hugged her. 

"I'm sorry ok.." he said then she left. 

A few hours later, James saw Claire and Vincent leaving Bucky's room. 

"Hey.." James said 

"We are really sorry about Reign..we thought she had moved last her best friend dying until little J just said she went off.." Claire said 

"Her friend?" James said 

"Yeah she attended elementary school but then lost her best friend due to a high fever and a infection." Vincent said 

Bucky was listening since they were outside his door. "oh fuck..no wonder she was pushing me at school to go home..and yelling at me." He thought to himself.

A few days later, he was discharged and home. Reign stopped by his house with three bags of clothes. 

"What's all this?" He said 

"Outfits for the trail..I went shopping the day you went home from school." She said 

"Are you ok? I said I was sorry Reign I didn't mean to scare you.." he said 

"Yeah..I'm gonna go home now." She said 

"Reign you aren't going to stay and hang out with me?" He said 

"No ." She said 

He walked over to her, "You always want to be. What's wrong?" He said 

"It's nothing Buck." She said 

"Reign please don't do this please don't put your walls back up.." he said 

"I have to go.." she said and left.
