The next morning, Reign was somber and quiet she had been working with her therapist all throughout the trail to get her prepared for this day. This day was her turn to tell her story she put on her tweed black skirt set and curled her hair.
When she got to the courthouse she was in for a surprise, all four of her brothers were there. Not only that, Bucky had James, Delilah, Jana and Ashton as well as his grandmother Helen with him.
"You all didn't have to come." She said
"Yes we did sweet girl you need the support in that room." Helen said as she hugged her.
"Thanks.." she whispered
Court went into session at 9AM, both James and Delilah gave testimonies on the night Bucky brought her into the ER. Defense brought in a frat brother from that night who only remembered seeing them go upstairs and barely remembered seeing her leave.
"Prosecution your final witness." Judith said
"Prosecution calls Reign Carsyn Martinez.." Elena said
The doors opened to show her she walked in as she shook. She was sworn in and she took her seat.
"For the record state your name." Elena said
"My name is Reign Carsyn Martinez, my middle name is spelled C A R SYN." She said
"Thank you..when did you first meet the defendant." Elena said
"I met him when I was nine years old at his parents house, they were hosting a dinner party. He was 13 at the time, I didn't know many of the kids there because at the time I was homeschooled so I mainly played alone at the dinner parties. I just liked going cause my daddy would buy me these real pretty sparkly dresses and I would wear them." She said
"Now I know you were only 9 at the time but did you get any weird vibe from him?" Elena said
"No I mean I thought it was odd that he was 13 and wanted to play Castle with me. But I thought he was just being nice." She said
"Ok, now you saw him various other times after that but he didn't try and do anything?" Elena said
"Correct, it wasn't until the night of my brother's sweet sixteen that he ever approached .d. He came up behind and said ribbet I made him the road in my story when I was 9 so that's why he said ribbet." She said
"That's the night you don't remember much?" Elena said
"Yes, I remember us dancing him flirting with me. He didn't care that his girlfriend was there, and I remember him giving me a drink but what Whitley said I don't remember him kissing me or us sneaking off to a room." She said
"At this point you are 13 correct?" Elena said
"Yes ma'am." She said
"Now you told me that it took you a whole year to convince your parents to allow you to date him, but you two were secretly dating during that time. But there is blank spots in your memory..you don't even remember your first time because you told me the time you do remember there was no blood." Elena said
"Yes, we were always at his house when no one but the maids would be home. He would bring me drinks, and I wouldn't remember anything but I would have a killer headache and be in a fog for a few days." She said
"Ok, now let's move on to when the abuse began. How long into the relationship after your parents allowed him to date you did it start?" Elena said
"Four Months, the night he broke my nose." She said
"What happened?" Elena said
"I didn't want to go to a party I wanted to stay at his house and watch movies. I was 14, and just wanted to stay in. We got into a fight he punched me and shook me yelled at me that it was his way or the highway." She said
"You left after that?" Elena said
"Yeah I had a Uber pick me up, and take me to the ER I told them that I fell in my closet that I tripped over a heel." She said
"The maid saw it all, so we don't have to go into much detail. But what about the night you broke it off what happened that night?" Elena said as she gave her a tissue.
She took a deep breathe, and she started to cry.
"It's ok Reign.." Elena said
"He raped me, he held me down he punched me and strangled me. He raped me cause I asked if he was cheating on me while he was at college. I saw him texting girls while we were laying in bed watching movies. He said he was doing it to see if I had been faithful to him." She said
"Once it was over what happened?" Elena said
"I told him it was over and left..I cried in my bath tub I scrubbed and scrubbed..my parents found me..it took me a few days for me to tell them what really happened." She said
Elena put up all the pictures, "These are all the pictures you had saved on your phone of all the abuse. Is there anything else you want to tell the court?" Elena said
"He would verbally abuse me call me fat, he forced an abortion on me cause he didn't want me to get more fat, he killed my Yorkie cause he kicked her to hard and she was a teacup size so it doesn't take much force. and after we broke up he would stalk me and leave threatening voicemails so I had to change my phone number create new social medias" She said
"Thank you Reign. Now let's talk about that night a few months ago." Elena said
"We had been re connecting, I was naive in thinking he had changed. I went to a frat party with him. He had been drinking, and we went upstairs he started kissing on me. I asked him to stop we weren't together anymore and I knew what he wanted. He said that we both know that we will be eventually, and he continued to get handsy he started to get angry the more I pushed him away. He eventually got physical, he punched me hard in the face, he strangled me then threw me by my neck onto the bed. When he tried to undress me I kneed him hard in the crotch and ran as fast as I could out of the room and out of the house. I hid behind cars as I walked as I tried to call James. All I kept thinking was I gotta get out here." She said
"Thank you.." Elena said
"I am not going to let defense ask questions..because Joel you haven't been able to keep your views to yourself. She is a victim and I won't have you terrorizing her." Judith said
Joel was stunned.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury you may begin deliberations." Judith said and slammed her gaveled.
Reign took a deep breath, she walked over to everyone where Vincent hugged "Im so proud of you baby." He said
Everyone hugged her, and Bucky was last to give her a hug as they all went to the parking lot.
Two hours later, Vincent woke up a sleeping Reign to tell her that jury came back from deliberations. They all went back to the court room.
"Is this your final verdict?" Judith said
"Yes your honor." The foreman said
"Go ahead.." Judith said as the baliff returned the paper.
"In the case of Az vs Xander Michael Marcum we find the defendant guilty of all charges." The foreman said
Everyone cheered and hugged, Judith sentenced him to 10 years in prison, it was 5 years for each charge.
