Gin spun around to face whoever was talking to her, shocked to find Reaper standing there.

He was older then she was by around thirty years with a full beard and long white hair. He had an issue with his eyes so always wore shades, not the normal kind but the type that blocked out the light from the sides as well. His skin was leathery from too much sun and most likely alcohol, but she had always found that he was a kind man, albeit a bit standoffish at times.

Well she had until he had found someone harassing one of the checkout staff at the local store She had never seen the man look so angry, and she couldn't even see his eyes.

But here he was talking to her in a way that she imagined a grandfather might.

"Ginny girl, you are always welcome here. Even if you don't have one of these young 'un's to look after ya. Us old geezers will more then happily obliged." he said winking at her, his voice rough from smoking but somehow comforting as well.

"Um, thanks. I think." she blushed not too sure how to take his words. Surely the man wasn't hitting on her! Although she supposed he was a good looking man for his age, but just not for her.

"Don't say shit like that, Reap. She might get the wrong idea." Priest said, his gaze never leaving the beer that had somehow appeared in front of him. "You know she don't think like we do."

"No, boy, I'm not saying that she isn't a fine young thing, but she is way too much like a daughter to me. No offence, Ginny girl."

"None taken. Your more like a father figure to me as well." she smiled at him, secretly relieved that he had clarified that.

"More like a grand father figure." Burn muttered, earning himself a smack around his head from the much older man.

"Not too old to teach you a lesson, kid!" Reaper snarled at him. "Somethings, no matter how true, are best left unsaid. Ain't that right Ginny girl?"

She nodded, not really sure when he had started calling her Ginny girl, but not hating it either. It made her feel like she belonged there, if only in his eyes. Like he had accepted her into his family, and she knew a man like Reaper didn't let people into his circle easily.

"Got to say though. I ain't never seen Griff look at any woman as long as he has you. He looked like you hung the moon. And you looked at him the same. Hell gotta admit, half the guys here look at you like they wanna start something with ya' but don't wanna risk the thumping Griff'll give 'em."

"That's sweet of you to say, but I don't think that that's true. If he looked at me like that then he wouldn't have spent all that time betraying me." The tears were about to start up again, and she wasn't sure that she could do anything to stop them.

Reaper sighed, heavily, "Not claiming what he did was right, 'cause it wasn't, but I just think he was being lead around by his dick and couldn't find a way to get the bitch to let go. Even though he fucking should 'ave." he closed his eyes for a moment. "Did something similar in my youth. Only my girl cut me off completely. If I was walking the same street as she was she would go a different way, just to avoid me. Never managed to make it up to her though, as she was gone soon after she found out."

"I'm sorry, Reaper. I didn't know."

"Why would ya. Anyway the shits who did it are long gone by now."

Gin was shocked into silence. He couldn't mean that she was killed, could he?

Almost seeming like he could read her mind, Priest leaned closer to her and said quietly, "She was kidnapped, assaulted and killed from her job at the local store. She was dumped, naked, at the gates, and very much dead. Just about killed him by all accounts. From what we were told, anyways. Changed him when he found him. It apparently broke something in him and he was never the same."
