Chapter 52

Aleem POV

I was listening to Darius plan one more time just to be sure. "And we'll meet up here" he finished. Sammy started to say, "Click" as she holds an invisible camera and takes pictures. Yasmina asks, "What are you doing, Sammy?" "Huh? Oh, I'm just taking a few mental pictures. This might be the last time we ever see this place" she answers. Darius said, "Yeah... I guess you're right." Sammy then says, "Now smile, you three!" "Why not?" said Darius, "Sure" said Yasmina, "Course" I replied. We smile as she clicks and then groans, "Ugh! We gotta do it again. Darius, you blinked." Darius replied, "What? I'm sure it's fine." Sammy then sasses back, "Do you really want my mental picture of this place to have you with your eyes closed? You look dippy! Now smile. This time, don't blink."

We do it again, "Click! Perfect", then she walks to us and says, "Now let's take a group shot. Uh, where's Kenji?" Darius processed that, "Wait. Where is Kenji?" We check where we left the laptop and only the flash drive was left on the table. "No, no, no" said Darius, we start to check if he was still here. "I can't believe he went rogue" said Yasmina. Sammy grabs the flash drive and says, "At least he left this." But Darius adds, "But the hard drive isn't wiped. We got to stop Kenji."

Y/n POV

Ben was hesitant to let me follow him but he caves so now we're on the look as Bumpy follows us. He spots the helicopter and Bumpy bumps into the both of us startling us, he rubs her head and smiles but it falters. "Up for on last battle, old friend?" he asked her. She bellows and nudges him, I smile slightly and rub her head too. I heard someone shout, "Brooklyn! Hey! I've got the laptop!" I saw it was Kenji running to the bad guys and Brooklyn. "Hey Ben wasn't Darius supposed to deliver the laptop?" I asked as I look at him. Ben answers, "I thought so too, guess the plan's changed. Let's hit it, Bumps." He gets one Bumpy and hesitantly offers his hand to me, I grab it firmly and he pulls me up behind him.

Bumpy starts to run as I strain to hear what Kenji's saying, "I have it! It's right here!" Then he stopped shouting so I could hear their conversation. As Bumpy ran the rest of her herd starts to run behind us. Ben started to shout, "Wow! Yeah! Let's go! Whoo!" which left my ears ringing. I see them start to pull Brooklyn back as Ben shouts, "Remember Bumpy?! Well, how do you like her asymmetry now?!" Guess he was spitting on what Dr. Wu said that one time we saw him, way back before the island went into chaos. I see the guys taking Brooklyn away and Kenji trying to fight them but failing. The herd starts to run through them and hopefully help Brooklyn escape.

Aleem POV

We were running as fast as we could until we finally made it to the sight and saw the herd of ankylosaurus, so the distraction wasn't an explosion. Thank goodness! We saw Kenji with Brooklyn running through them.

Y/n POV

Dr. Wu struggles to weave through the ankylosauruses and drops his laptop on the grass. Bumpy walks over blocking him as Ben laughs and says, "Guess who? Whoo!" I watch and see Sammy managed to grab it and ran away.

Aleem POV

I run up to Sammy as she shouts, "We gotta finish wiping it!" Yasmina runs up to us and yells, "Don't need to! Brooklyn's free. We just have to keep away from-" I push them away from an oncoming ankylosaurus, "Careful!" I shout. We start to run but stop due to the ankylosauruses then we hear, "My patience is wearing thin! The laptop, now!" I turn and see one of the guys that were with Wu. I stand in front of them, hoping I looked adult enough. An ankylosaurus is running straight towards us , Sammy goes in front of me and says, "Oh, you want this? Catch!" She throws the laptop up and runs, I decide to follow them. I look back and see that the laptop got trampled on and destroyed.

We run up a hill and see that Darius, Brooklyn and Kenji are okay. Sammy runs up to Brooklyn and hugs her. I look around and see that everyone is here, I raise an eyebrow when I see Y/n sitting behind Ben on Bumpy. Before we could be all happy that Brooklyn was back, a helicopter ascends before us. We all gasp and start to run away form it. The helicopter follows us and gets really low, we all fall to the ground and it passes by, I sigh thankful it didn't crash into us.

Y/n POV

I get up and sigh I look at Ben as he tells Bumpy, "You did great today, Bumper Car." Bumpy bellows as she nuzzles into him, I smile and walk to them. "But... I guess this is goodbye for good" Ben whispers as he presses his face into hers. "I'm gonna miss you, pal. Thank you for everything" Ben finishes and hugs her.  Everyone comes into a group hug as we hug Bumpy, "We're gonna miss you, Bumpy. Be a good girl" said Yasmina. Everyone departs and I go in for my goodbyes. "Hey Bumpy... I know you were upset about our fighting. I know I would be if I saw my parents fighting, I'm sorry. We'll be better I promise. Goodbye Bumpy" I kiss her head. Ben starts to lead he and she goes forward without him.

He extends his trying to feel Bumpy and then pulls it back. Bempy arrives to her heard and groans softly at them. "Sorry the rescue didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped" said Darius to Brooklyn, seh chuckles and says, "It never does. But somehow, it always works out." I watch as Darius walks up to Kenji and says, "Listen, don't feel bad about stealing the laptop. I get it. We all just wanted Brooklyn back safe. So, we good?" Darius lifts his fist for a fist bump, but Kenji leaves him hanging, "No, were not. Because unlike you, I don't take risks with friends' lives." Then Kenji walks pass him with a bitter face. Brooklyn walks to Darius and says, "Come on, let's all go home."

~Time Skip~

The sun was high and we were finally on the boat, Kenji was stirring but still with a bitter face. Sammy was snoring on a beach bench, Yasmina sat near, Darius and Brooklyn were looking over the fencing. I heard her say, "So, Dino-Nerd, now that it's over, I'm guessing the whole Jurassic World experience wasn't exactly what you thought it would be." Darius responds, "Yeah, that's for sure." Darius looks back at us and smiles, "But it wasn't all bad either, not by a long shot." I watch him walk to the back of the boat. I sat next to Aleem as he looked over at the water, I sigh and he looks at me. "You should probably talk to him" Aleem says as he gestures his head towards Ben. "He's been staring at us with a sad puppy face. Maybe we were too harsh on him... I feel bad for what I did to him" Aleem added. I looked at his face and his stubble which is looking more like a beard. "Maybe... maybe" I say and look back at Ben.

I get up and walk up to him, I stand awkwardly next to him as he looks away nervously. I didn't say anything and grab his hand and squeeze. He gasps and turns to me, when he was about to say something I raise my other hand. "One chance. It's all I'm giving you, use it wisely" I say firmly. He nods and takes out the blue fabric from his fannypack and hands it to me. I grab it and wrap it around my left wrist tightly. "I'm sorry for slapping you" I said, "Me too" added Aleem as he glances at us. Ben looks away and says, "I'm sorry for... breaking your nose. Hopefully it doesn't stay crooked." I sigh, "I hope, too." He smiles nervously and leans towards me. I sigh and grab his shirt and pull him in, he gasps but kisses back. "Wow" says Aleem as he claps, we break from the kiss and stare into our eyes.

Finally, we're getting off this island.
