Chapter 54

Y/n POV

We slowly approach the compy as it squeaks when we surround it. Darius whispers, "Ben, distract it." Ben nods and pulls some berries from his fannypack and throws them onto the ground. The compy begins to eat them and Darius slowly approaches with the bucket in hand. Suddenly the boat rocks again and we scream as we fall, and the compy gets away. We get up and Ben asks, "Uh, guys, what's happening?" Kenji answers, "Propeller's jammed. Someone's gotta go under and check it out." Brooklyn then added, "Cap thinks we're stuck in kelp. And where there's a kelp forest, there are usually sharks." Yasmina exclaimed, "Sharks? I'll pass. Saw this movie as a kid that really messed me up for life."

Darius looks at the water and shutters, so does Aleem. I guess the crash is still affecting them mentally. I was about to volunteer but Aleem beat me to it, "I'll do it." My eyes widen, "But, you seemed so scared of the water?" He sighs and says, "I'm a better swimmer then you, besides my leg has healed... I'll be fine." After tying a rope to the boat and onto Aleem's waist. Yasmina asks him, "You sure you're okay to go alone?" He just sighs and say, "I'll be fine. Just be ready to pull me up." He walks down the stairs and gets near the water, Ben and Yasmina grab the rope. Once he's ready he inhales and jumps in. Ben and Yasmina slowly let the rope go into the water.

Aleem POV

The water was a murky green and the salt water stunk my eye as I swam towards the propeller and saw that indeed kelp had gotten tangled onto it.  I proceed to remove the kelp and once I was done I began to swim back to where I jumped from. I resurfaced and gasped for air. "He's up!" yelled Yasmina as I said, "The propeller was tangled in the kelp. Tell Kenji to try it now. I'll... stay here in the water just in case." Brooklyn shouted, "Yeah, on it!" and ran to the cockpit. I saw how the boat moves forward slightly and Kenji yelled, "We're all-clear!" I sigh in relief as everyone else celebrates. Then Brooklyn came running and said something I didn't want to hear, "There's something in the water! It's headed this way!"

I saw Ben and Yasmina pull the rope as I looked around but only saw dark water. "Back up the boat!" shouted Brooklyn. I started to swim towards the boat as they struggled to pull me back. I heard Kenji shout, "Shark!" Yasmina said, "Shark? There. It's headed right towards Aleem." I kept swimming and when I looked back I saw a fin popping from the surface of the water. I screamed as I saw it and struggled to swim faster. "Pull him in faster! The boat's drifting!" shouted Ben. "Hurry!" yelled Brooklyn as they continued pulling the rope. When I was close enough to grab Ben's hand I felt something pull me back, I gasped in fear and moves my legs frantically.

"No!" yelled Ben, "It's okay! I got you! Hold on!" shouted Yasmina as she, Ben, Sammy, and Y/n pulled. Suddenly the rope snapped and I went underwater. I looked at my foot and saw that it was tangled in kelp. I tried swimming up but it didn't let me reach the surface. After struggling I managed to get my head to resurface for air. I frantically moved my arms, struggling to free myself by just swimming away. I looked back and saw the shark approaching me suddenly a mosasaurus came and ate it whole. I screamed and my head started to go underwater. I looked back at the boat and below, I inhaled and went under to try free myself from the kelp. I saw something getting near in the water and I screamed and started to choke on the water.

I felt myself being pulled up and saw Kenji had swam to me. We resurfaced and I coughed up water. "Hold still! I got you" Kenji told me. He dives down and I go down and see him struggling to untangle the kelp. I help him but that puts me in an uncomfortable position. Finally I was free and when we resurfaced, they threw a life saver and we grabbed it. "Come on!" shouted Ben, "We'll pull you in!" yelled Sammy. They pulled at the rope and we finally reached the boat. The pulled us onto the boat and we both exhaled. Ben shouted, "Brooklyn, get us outta here!" The boat started to move, I looked back panting and saw nothing was following us.

I looked at Kenji and said, "Thank you.... thank you for saving me." He breathed and smiled, "No problem." I crawl onto the floor and lay on it, "I think I'll just lay here for a bit." Suddenly I felt someone grab me and hug me tightly. "You scared me Aleem" Y/n said as she pressed her face into my wet shoulder. "I.... froze and didn't know what to do" she continued. I rubbed her hair and was about to say something until the boat rocked violently again. "The mosasaurus!" I yelled and I heard Kenji shout, "Brooklyn! Drive faster!" We scream as the mosasaurus jumped and began to bite the boat. Yasmina tried to hit it with a paddle but it just bit harder causing wood to fly. "I thought we were done with dinosaurs!" shouted Yasmina.

We run away as it continues biting into the deck, the boat starts to tilt to the left and we hit the wall. The mosasaurus hits the elevated right side causing Y/n to slip and almost go into the water but Ben grabbed her. He pulled her and she grabbed onto the rail. Ben looks forward and shouts, "Land!" The mosasaurus kept hitting the boat and almost made it fly. The mosasaurus jumped from the water and we all looked up as it landed on the boat causing it to flip over and everything went black.

~Time Skip~

Y/n POV

I slowly opened my eyes and felt sand all over my body. I sat up and saw everyone else also getting up. "Is... is everyone okay?" asked Darius. Sammy responds, "Okay. Now, this has to be a dream." The sand looks grey, the sky is grey, and the sea was black. Lighting strikes as we struggle to get up and we cough. "This doesn't look like Costa Rica" said Brooklyn. Lighting strokes again and the wind picks up. I shiver and hug myself and so do the others. "Maybe we could take shelter in there" said Ben as he looked at a cave. "Maybe we shouldn't go in there" said Sammy as we looked at the dark cave. Kenji replied, "Can't be worse than where we've been." Darius adds, "Only one way to find out." We proceed to walk into the dark pitch black cave. I just hope we managed to get out of this one.

I'm scared...
