Chapter 53

Y/n POV

I stared off into the sea as I watched the calm waters then I heard, "You aren't mad at me anymore, right?" I turned towards Ben and sigh, "I'm still mad." His eyes widen, "But-", I cut him up by saying, "I think the kiss was to far... I still need time to rethink everything."  Ben rubs his neck, "Alright then, I get it. We're on good terms." I nod and then say, "Just not that loving, not yet." He nods and walks away, I sigh and close my eyes. Relationships are hard. My silence got interrupted by Sammy asking, "Are we really off the island or is this a dream?" Yasmina answers, "If it were a dream, I'm thinking we'd have a change of clothes." Ben adds, "Ha! What do you mean? I've always wanted a signature look."

Everyone laughs at what he said but I see Brooklyn and Darius stop and look at where Kenji was steering. Darius continues laughing as he looks away but Brooklyn doesn't continue. I look up and see Kenji looking through a telescope. Then Brooklyn goes up to talk to him since it was lunch time. After a bit the engine turned off, I guess Brooklyn convinced him since he wasn't in a good mood. Kenji and Brooklyn came down but Kenji kept frowning towards Darius direction as he just ate. I was next to Aleem as we ate the little fruit to offer. Ben came walking towards us holding a plate high up as he said, "And now, for the main course, the plumpest and juiciest...Nublar grubs!"

Everyone was waiting happily until they saw what it was, but then they started to get grossed out, "Ugh! Ew!" Ben added, "Hand-selected by yours truly." He grabbed one as he told it, "Thank you for your sacrifice" then he ate it whole. Everyone is grossed out as Yasmina says, "Come on" and Darius adds, "Do you have to do that here?", "Why?" asked Kenji. Ben finishes eating it and hands the plate to Sammy. She swallows and says nervously,  "Well, I guess the least I can do is keep an open mind." She grabs one and stares at it, then she tries to eat it as Ben menacingly says, "Do it." She can't and throws it away as it lands on Yasmina, she screams as she tries to get it out of her hair.

Yasmina manages to get it off but flings it onto Darius's face as he screams and frantically tries of get it off. Ben does to him and takes it off as he says, "How you all survived, I'll never know" then he eats it. I grab one and tear it head off, "I don't know how you eat it while it's still alive, it can still bite your throat." I proceed to eat it but almost gag, after swallowing I say, "For the proteins." I stick my tongue out disgusted, then I see Aleem grab one. Everyone starts saying no to not eat it as Ben says, "Do it." again. Aleem gulps as he says, "I'm taking one for the team... I hope it's like those coconut grubs we tried that one time." Everyone started to tell him to stop and not to do it but he teared it head off and put into his mouth. Everyone gags or makes a disgusted noise.

Aleem struggles to chew and swallows, he gags and says, "It wasn't sweet nor buttery..." Everyone is disgusted by what he had expected. Ben pumps his fists and said, "Yes!" then he place the plate on the table as Yasmina moves it away with her foot. Sammy changes the topic, "Okay. No tears or goodbyes until we're sittin' on the plane, but can I just say, look at us. We started as campers, and now, we're-" she got cut of by others saying...

Ben: "Immortal!"

Brooklyn: "Survivors?"

Kenji: "Exhausted."

Sammy finished, "I was gonna say soulmates." Darius added, "Still doesn't feel real. We finally made it off the island. Go us." "I'm gonna miss you guys so much! Before we get off this boat, I'll need everyone to write down their e-mail addresses, social media handles, and weekly availabilities for a group check-in. Also, your favorite kind of cake and the best time of day to receive packages. And maybe, I don't know, for fun, your favorite memory of the two of us." Kenji finished drinking and saw his empty plate, "Hey, who took my food? I had a bunch of berries sitting right there." He looks at Darius as he says, "Wasn't me." Yasmina sarcastically added, "Maybe the boat is haunted."

Sammy pushed Yasmina away, "Oh, Yaz, no! Don't even joke." Yasmina laughs as I frown, food doesn't disappear unless something is eating it without us noticing. Ben grabs more berries as Brooklyn asks, "No sea sickness anymore, Ben? What, did the island beat it out of you?" Ben clenches his fist and stands tall, "When you've seen the things I've seen, a little thing like motion sickness can't... Oh! Who ate all the grubs?!" Brooklyn answered, "Not if you paid me", Yasmina added, "Truly, no one." Ben looks at Aleem and me but we shake our heads. Then their was a faint clicking as everyone stands attentive. We look over to where the noise was coming from and a compy squeaks as it eats the grubs.

There were sighs of relief and Yasmina says, "Of course. A stowaway." Darius stated, "The last thing we need is it chewing on some wires or something." It squeaks and runs away as Yasmina exclaims, "What do you say we catch one last Compy? For old times' sake." Yasmina, Sammy and Ben began to run after it but I wasn't feeling it. Aleem, Darius, Brooklyn, Kenji, and I stayed behind. Kenji walks away and Darius approaches him, "Listen, man, about what happened-", Kenji cuts him off, "I should be at the controls. I'm trying to get us all home." Darius tried to talk to him, "Seriously? I only did what Brooklyn asked me to do. What's your problem?" Kenji turned towards him, "For once, when you have to do the right thing, I'd like to see you put this group first. Just once!"

I decided to back up and let them talk that out, I saw Aleem follow me as he grimaces. Suddenly the rest run towards us as the compy heads towards us. Ben runs with a bucket in hand as the compy runs between out legs. I move but Ben accidentally slammed the bucket on Aleem's head as he falls backwards. Everyone ran after the Compy as Ben just pulled the bucket off and continued running. I help Aleem up until suddenly the boat rocks violently. "Did you guys feel that?" asked Ben as Kenji answers by yelling down, "Probably just a swell or something! Captain K's got it under control." Ben started to pack the stuff and so Aleem and I helped him.

Darius came running to the deck, "It's here somewhere. Anyone see it?" Ben answered, "I figured I'd pack everything up before it could get to it." "We'll find it. Fan out" said Yasmina, before we could Sammy said, "Oh, real quick, guys. I know we're in the middle of a dino chase, but if I could just get all of you to put your info on Yaz's incredible drawin'..." Everyone ran away as she adds, "Later. Got it. Cool, cool, cool." I ran also to try and help catch the compy since they were failing so hard.
