Chapter 45

Y/n POV

Sammy was breathing heavily as she grabbed her stomach, Yasmina asked, "How you feeling?" Sammy answered, "Like I got punched in the stomach by a porcupine. So you know better." I looked at Aleem as he breathed and closed his eyes, his grip on my hand tight. I saw how everyone looked happy they they were alright. Darius looks at the sky and sees the full moon, "Let's get to the boat while there's a break in the storm." "What about the Scorpios rex?" asked Brooklyn. Darius answered firmly, "We have to risk it. We might not get another chance." Everyone starts to get ready to head towards the boat. I saw Brooklyn packing a bag and read a container, "Ugh, Carob..." then she throws it away hoping Ben wasn't watching.

She gasps when she sees that Darius and I were watching her. "It was the right call" said Darius as I giggle slightly. He passes her a radio and says, "Can't take everything." I walked up to Aleem, who was now sitting up right. I extended my hand and he grabbed it while I helped him stand up. His legs wobble as he falls backwards. "Jeez... I need a minute" he mumbled as he looked at his legs. "No worries" I said and smiles softly, I'm just glad he's okay. After a bit we tried again and he managed to stand up, albeit he has to lean on me. Brooklyn looks around and raises an eyebrow while asking, "Uh... Where's Ben?" We all started to look around and saw that he was nowhere to be seen.

~Time Skip~

We all are looking for Ben and yelling out his name. Brooklyn started suggesting, "Bumpy ran off because of the Scorpios rex. Ben's probably going after her." Darius sighs and says, "Then I am going after him." "Dude!" shouted Kenji as Yasmina says, "Anyone else see the irony?" Brooklyn replies, "Fine, let's go. The sooner we get Ben, the sooner we get out of here." Darius turned around and said, "We can't risk all of us. The Scorpios is still out there. I'm going alone." Brooklyn argued back, "Again? You don't always have to do everything alone." Darius said, "Get to the boat. If Ben and I aren't there by sunrise, well, you know what that means. And leave without us."

I didn't like this so I tapped Kenji's should and let Aleem lean on him as I walked up to Darius. "I'm coming with" I said with no intention of being persuaded. Darius was about to argue back instead said, "Shh! Over there." "I don't see anything? Darius? Darius?" said Kenji. I frowned and ran after the path I saw Darius was headed off to. He tried to get distract us but I'm still going with him.

Aleem POV

I heard Kenji grumble as he notices that Darius and Y/n are missing, I can't really say much since she went off running after him.  "Okay, yeah. Picking up on the irony thing you were talking about" said Brooklyn. "What do we do now?" asked Sammy. Kenji sighs and replies, "We go to the boat." I frown but I know there's no way we can catch up, especially with Sammy and me in these conditions.

Y/n POV

I managed to catch up to Darius when he slowed down to call out for Ben. He notices me and says, "You weren't supposed to follow me." I frown and say, "I'm concerned for Ben, he seem reluctant. I might have a better chance at talking if it doesn't work." The radio we heard Brooklyn's voice, "Darius? Darius, do you co-" but Darius turned it off. "Darius you'll playing a dangerous game not letting them talk" I said, concerned. He just shook his head and said, "You should have stayed with Aleem, who knows if we'll get back. You two should have stayed together." I scoffed and said, "Yeah and leave Ben? I'm not that terrible of a girlfriend. I just hope we can convince him, if my hunch is correct."

Darius sighs and says, "Let's just continue looking for him." We continue to shout Ben's name while we walked. We stopped shouting when the ground started to rumble. We both stand still and look around scared.

Aleem POV

"Stupid Darius thinking we're gonna stupid leave without him on that stupid boat. Worse that Y/n ran after him" said Kenji as he helped me walk. "Don't worry. Kid's got major FOMO. They'll make it there by sunrise" said Brooklyn. Kenji looked ahead and said, "But will we?" The giant fence was broken down as debris was everywhere. Kenji continued forward with me as he looked around and said,  "Everything's been smashed, knocked down, or trampled. Stupid Scorpios messing up that stupid plan to the stupid boat." He kicks a rock and a branch falls in front the two of us as he gasps and pulls us back. "Calm down with the s-word" I said as rubbed my temples frustrated.
