Chapter 48

A/n: Double Update

Y/n POV

They slam the door shut behind us, we all breath in as we see Darius holding the gun and he says, "I honestly forgot I was holding it." "It's okay. We'll need another chance" said Brooklyn. Some compies run by as a heavy thud is heard, we turn and see the beast has entered through another way. "It's the other one" said Darius. It roars as Darius aims at it and breaths heavily, he shoots. We hold our breath with anticipation and... it flies pass it, missing. It looks behind and then back at us, then it snarls and runs towards us. We all scream and run away from it's pounce. It flies into the door and gets up to chase us. Darius loads the gun and tries to aim but it rips it out of his hold with it's mouth.

It pounces again and hits a wall, we ran and entered what seems to be the kitchen area. We hid behind the counters as it approaches the door and exhales in the window. The handle starts to squeak as if it was trying to open it. But it seems to give up and walk away, so we all sigh. The door slams open as it roars and we all scream frightened. It busts through the door frame and starts destroying the kitchen with it's tail and claws. I see Kenji go to the stoves and turn them on, so they emit fire. He actually was listening when I mentioned it's heat vision. It gets distracted and jumps at the stove's open flame giving us time to run out of the kitchen. We run to the door quickly.

"Outside!" yelled Kenji but Brooklyn asked, "What about the other Scorpios?" Kenji shouted, "I'll take my chances!" So we all ran out but we skit to a stop as a Blue Raptor jumps in front of us. We turn back and run inside while Kenji, Aleem, and Darius struggle to hold the door shut. But it manages to knock them down and enter anyway. We back up as it screeches and walks closer. "Up there! Come on!" shouted Yasmina as she pointed at some old construction scaffolding. But she falls back as the Scorpios appears and roars at her. I back up and my feet it's something, I glance down and see the tranq gun. "We're trapped" said Brooklyn, another roar is heard and up above is the other Scorpios, we all gasp as it tries to enter. Then the other one jumps and goes to attack it.

The roof shakes and debris falls near us, we scream and dodge. I close my eyes and breath, then I open them and pick up the tranq gun. But when I was met face to face with the raptor, she snarls at me and I lift my hand up in surrender. She looks at me then shrieks and runs pass me. I was amazed when I saw she started to attack the beast. But it isn't a fair fight as she's thrown into a wall, but she continues fighting anyway. The roof starts to rumble and the others run to the door as Sammy says, "We gotta go. If the roof collapses on us, we're toast." Darius then says, "But they would be, too." Darius runs to the scaffolding and yells, "Help me!" I wanted to grab gun but they need everyone, so I went to help.

"Come on! We gotta take this whole place down!" shouted Darius. The other Scorpios finally managed to get in and starts to drag the other one, the raptor gets mixed into the fight as well. We grunt as we stress ourselves to push over the scaffolding. We finally manage to push it down and it hits the second floor, the roof starts to fall apart. "Run for it now!" shouted Darius as we screamed and ran to the door. We jump forward and fall onto the ground as the visitor center collapses entirely. We get up and get closer to check on the rubble. I squint and see a stiff claw form one of the Scorpioses, looks dead to me. We turn around and start to walk to the direction of the boat.

I heard Ben say to Darius, "Come on, I'll walk you to the boat." I roll my eyes, still upset about Ben's decision, I'm never gonna let him forget this if we every see each other again. The walk there was quite, calming which is strange to say after everything that had happened to us. But then Aleem was squinting at my face, and I turned away, hopefully he didn't notice. "Why is your nose crooked?" he asked looking slightly angry. Crap, he did notice. "Nothing, just broke it when we encountered those beasts when looking for Ben" I lied through my teeth, "Uh huh yeah I believe you" he said as he frowns, no he didn't. His eyes lower to my left wrist and look back into my eyes, "Please tell me what I believe happened actually didn't happen."

"Well..." I didn't finish as Aleem shouted, "I'm gonna killing you Ben!" He starts to run at him and Ben jumps and begins to run away. I chuckle sadly, watching them fade into the distance. But I sigh and grab my broken nose and hiss, I hope we can get medical care quickly. I don't want my nose to heal and be crooked.

~Time Skip~

When we arrived the sun had disappeared into the sea and Aleem had Ben in a choke hold. It took Darius a lot of talking to convince him to not choke him. But he finally let go but was still red angry, as he walks to my side. "Well, this is it" said Ben as he rubbed his neck. Sammy rubs her tears as she says, "I know I've asked you this a hundred times before you ran off, but are you sure you wanna stay behind, Ben?" Kenji adds, "Yeah, man. After everything we just went through, it's absolutely bonkers that you don't wanna leave." Ben responds, "Well, okay, I know, I know it seems that way, but the Scorpioses are gone now. I'll be okay. You guys are my family but this island is home. I know how to survive here."

Sammy then says, "But every time I think of you out here all alone...", Yasmina adds, "Yeah, and I'll miss you." Everyone gets near him, well everyone except Aleem and me. "We'll all miss you" said Brooklyn. Ben frowns sadly and looks at the both of us, Aleem hugs me and makes me face away from him. "Don't look at us. Ruining such a promising relationship, you F#%&" said Aleem cursing at the end. My eyes widen, I have never heard him curse at all. Ben frowns more and purses his lips, I look away remembering we only kissed once or twice, I believe. The sky lights up as a storm approaches, Ben then says, "Another storm is on the way. Best sail out before it rolls in." Everyone hugs him except for Darius, Aleem and me.

Darius says, "Come on, guys. Ben's made up his mind. We gotta respect it." They let him go and start to walk to the boat, all depressed. I leave Aleem and walk to the boat as he stays behind and looks at Ben. After getting onto the boat, I peek to see what Aleem is doing. I see Ben try to hand him the blue fabric but Aleem instead slaps Ben cheek, causing him to stumble back. It was the same side I slapped before,  and then he turns to leave. So Ben stands there with his hand extended with the blue fabric and his left cheek red from the slap. Nobody says anything as he gets onto the boat, his face red from anger. Ben lowers his arm and puts the blue fabric back into his fannypack, with a sad expression.

I turn my back and Aleem stands next to me clenching his right hand. The engine starts and the boat backs up, my eyes starts to tear up as I hug Aleem tightly and cry into his shoulder. He snaps out of his anger and hugs me back then whispers, "Maybe, we aren't meant for relationships. Or first loves never work out." I remembered how Aleem's and Yasmina's relationship dusted in a couple of days. I feel tears in my hair as Aleem cries silently into my hair, at least we have each other. Family love sometimes still stands after romantic love falls. But sometimes not, sadly, thankfully it wasn't the latter. I zone out the others say to Ben as we leave, I don't really care right now.

Ben POV

"Stay safe, Ben!" shouted Darius and Sammy yelled, "We love you!" Tears fall from my eyes as I whisper say, "Love you, too." I try to rub them away but notice the f/c fabric around my right wrist. "N/n" I whisper and cry more, why did I have to ruin it? It starts to pour and I walk away and tighten the f/c fabric. I really wished she would have stayed with me. I pick up a branch as I pass the limo, jumping over a fallen tree, I stand proud. Or am I really, are these raindrops or tears I feel? I can't do this... what was I thinking? Should I go back? No, she will still hate me and Aleem will not be forgiving. They both hate me, but I just can't. I look back and begin to sprint.

Y/n POV

Aleem and I were in the cabin, just hugging as he gently rocked me. We had stopped crying but I didn't want to be with anyone else besides my big brother, who protects me. I groan when I heard something that annoys me, "Aleem what's that noise?" Aleem closes his eyes and listens, "Sounds like a helicopter." I back up from the hug and say, "A helicopter?!" We both get up and open the door only to be blinded by a bright light. I hug Aleem, as we hear a feminine voice from a megaphone, "Attention, you on the boat return to the dock and cut the engine immediately."

I whisper, "I don't think they're here to save us."

Aleem then asked, "Then who are they?"
