Felix had always found these kinds of revelries in his honor to be dull at best, nauseating at worst. This particular one was the latter, though that was to be expected of Fae revelries. Although he was Fae, he had always found Fae parties too bright, too loud and the air too choked with spells. The Fae did nothing dully, something his headache knew all too well.
He lounged on his throne and watched the partygoers, succumbing to the temptation to people watch out of sheer boredom. There were the usual attendees that were all but a fixture at parties: the ones that came to drum up favor with others, the ones that came to find a partner for the night and his least favorite, the ones that came in hopes of getting their claws into him. It was the pitfall that came with being any type of royalty, he knew, but it made their attempts no less annoying.
His eyes slid over the throngs of people, skipping from face to familiar face when his gaze halted, stuck on someone he hadn’t seen before. It was rare that someone new came to these parties without his knowledge, as most of the kingdom’s gossip made its way to him sooner or later. A new Fae in the area would certainly have been enough to cause commotion, so why had this woman managed to skate beneath the radar?
Felix watched her, attempting to figure out what was so different about this woman. True, she was the most gorgeous creature he’d ever seen, stirring thoughts that were better left to the back of his mind. She blended in seamlessly with her surroundings, entering and leaving conversations with ease. Her dress fluttered behind her as she danced, the design and deep pink color making her look like one of the prettiest flowers he’d ever seen. He half wondered if she smelled as good or if her skin was as soft as the petals.
He wanted to know more about this woman. It was decided, he was going to speak to her.
When he stood up, a hush descended over the room, with most of the partygoers turning to watch and hurriedly moving out of his way as he walked further from his throne. The woman didn’t seem to notice, continuing to dance to the music as if nothing had changed. She only stopped when he spoke.
“Come with me.” She turned, taking him in with wide eyes but didn’t move.
He extended his hand, silently repeating the command. She hesitantly took it, following him back to the dais. When he sat back down, she stood next to his throne awkwardly until he pulled her down, causing her to lose her balance and fall in his lap. He adjusted her so that she was more securely sitting with her left shoulder leaning against his right and her legs half over the arms of the throne.
“Carry on,” he told the crowd, which had become dead silent as they took in the strange scene. With some difficulty, the party resumed, though many more glances were being thrown his way.
The woman smiled, though it was more a baring of teeth. “What the hell are you doing?”
Felix tsked. “Now, is that any way to address your prince?”
She glared, a fire roaring behind those blue eyes. “Not when he’s suddenly pulled me onto his lap without asking.” She started wriggling, trying to get out of his grip and off his lap, which certain parts of him enjoyed far too much.
He groaned. “Careful, you are about to start something you may not be able to finish.”
She caught on to his meaning immediately and smirked. “That’s all it takes to rile you up? How sad.” She trailed her hand down his chest teasingly, her smirk growing as she felt his reaction against her.
He caught her hand, giving her a look he knew was half anger and half desire. His other hand went under her dress, ghosting his finger along her thigh. Her next inhale was a little sharper and he grinned, using his thumb to trace circles on her leg.
“I was just curious about your dress. Is that a crime?”
She was clearly trying to ignore his hand on her leg, instead choosing to glare at him, though it lacked much of the fire it had had before. Instead of answering, her face crumpled and she dropped her face to his shoulder, looking to all the world like she had simply started to cry and become overwhelmed. Her body was even shaking, though he could feel from her breath on his neck that it was laughter, not tears.
Only Felix could feel her tongue grazing his skin until she bit down. He jolted in his seat, drawing some concerned glances, but his face remained impassive. Thankfully, she was in his lap in a way that nobody else could see the more…prominent problem. She continued to suck on the skin, leaving no question in his mind that it would leave a mark.
That was enough to push him over the edge. He no longer cared about anything save for getting out of there and getting them to his bedroom. With a nod to his butler, he conveyed all he needed to and stood, cradling the woman in his arms, who thankfully had stopped biting his neck. The logical voice in his head told him that this was a bad idea, that he needed to know more about this woman, but his mind was more and more addled by his lust.
“I apologize for leaving so early, but I have urgent matters to take care of.” He nodded to the woman, who hammed up the performance, real tears sliding down her face. If he hadn’t been her willing victim, he never would have known that just a moment ago she had been giving someone a hickey. “Please enjoy the rest of the party in my absence.”
With that, he swept out of the room and made it to his bedroom. He set the woman down, who stood proudly and wiped the tears off her face.
“Do you think they bought it?”
“It is likely. You are a wonderful actress…” He trailed off, not knowing her name.
“Marinette.”
“So, tell me, Marinette. Did you come to my party to seduce me?” While he was enchanted with her, he had to know if she was just another socialite looking to leech off his wealth or was just a partygoer.
She looked offended. “You are the one that put me in your lap!”
“You reciprocated!”
“You are the one that said I could not finish what I started, so I wanted to prove that I could.” Marinette raised her chin, smirking.
Felix could tell that this woman hadn’t come with the intent to seduce him and she was certainly ticking all of his other boxes. Without a second thought, he backed her against the door and kissed her deeply. She sighed into his mouth, a noise he wanted to hear again and again. He broke away from the kiss to begin to trail down her neck, licking and biting as she had in the throne room, this time leaving his mark on her. He bit down harder than usual at one point, making her jump like he had. She grabbed the sides of his head and pulled him back, bringing him into a bruising kiss, where she bit his lip in return.
He pulled back, both breathing heavily and staring into each other’s eyes. “So, are you still ready to finish what you started?” He asked, licking his lips.
Her eyes tracked the movement. “So long as you can keep up.”
He picked her up and deposited her on the bed, holding himself up over her. “That, I can do.”
