Marinette had a hard time handling the cold before she became Ladybug, but slowly, as she was connected with the Miraculous longer, it started to be more of a problem. Tikki had explained to her that with every miraculous, if the user was in prolonged contact, they took on some aspects of whatever animal was connected with said Miraculous. To cats, Chat Noir smelled like them, and as a result they seemed to flock to him, he became weak to things like sunspots, lasers, chasing things, etc., Viperion had issues with the cold, and would shut down, and started to have an affinity to walk almost silently, and liking to sit on tree branches, you get the idea. For Marinette she tended to try and hibernate when she got too cold, felt a pull to huddle together with her comrades and friends, released a smell that tended to attract ladybugs to her, and even found herself preferring leafy greens over any other food she would eat. For the most part, it was easy for her to resist the urge, she was human after all, and had the convenience of battery, or electric powered heaters, and heavy coats, sweaters, and jackets that kept her warm enough that the urge to hibernate was dulled to an ache that simply made her more tired than usual.
But of course, nothing could be simple for Marinette, could it?
Marinette blamed Lila. With Lila's mounting lies enrapturing most of her classmates, and even her teachers, it really shouldn't have been a surprise when Lila used Marinette's weakness to the cold against her. Marinette wanted to blame Nino, but all he really did was answer Alya's question when the blogger innocently asked by Marinette was wrapped up like a well-made burrito, to which he responded with Marinette's cold sensitivity. And what would you know, the day right after Lila was fretting over saving electricity and shedding tears to the Headmaster with barley hidden hints towards a lessened electricity and heat bill at the end of the month, resulting in the man ordering all teachers only to turn on the heat if it was absolutely needed, followed with not so subtle complaints towards Marrinette wearing too many layers, implementing the 'one jacket per student' rule. If Marinette wasn't cuddled in on herself in attempts of fighting the instinct to sleep, she would have leapt over the desks and actually popped Lila in the mouth, but she was cold. So, so cold.
Jason eyed his desk mate warily, a nagging feeling of concern clawing against the back of his head like a feral cat. He had only been in the class for a few days, but already he was extremely fond of the short, but passionate girl that shared his table in the back of the class. She had given him a full, carefully filled out itinerary of the school, with a map of the surrounding area for food places in case he wanted to leave for lunch, and she was the first to offer to tutor him so he could catch up. He liked her a great deal, not romantically mind you, but he much preferred her to his actual brothers. Which is why he was worried. He knew about her sensitivity to the cold, having heard the DJ kid explaining it to his girlfriend, and while the cold didn't bother him, it was obvious with anyone with properly working eyes that Marinette was suffering.
Nervously eyeing her, he raised his hand. "Can we turn up the heat?" He asked.
Caline Bustier, his main teacher sighed from where she wrote on the bored. "No, M. Todd. M. Damocles said to only turn it on in emergencies." Jason wasn't a fan of the woman. She was objectively more lenient, and was said to be the kind teacher, but all Jason saw was a woman who let the tormentors prosper, while flattening the victims.
"Marinette is freezing, how is that not an emergency?" Jasson huffed, glaring daggers into the teacher's back.
Lila started sniffling. "Marinette you really need to stop pretending." She chastised softly. "Lying about a medical condition is wrong." A small ripple of agreement chimed from the rest of the class, but the bluenette hadn't moved, still laying with her jacket, and Jason's draped over her. Lila frowned at the lack of response.
Jason reached across the table and grabbed Marinette's hand, flinching as she felt ice cold. "She's freezing." He insisted, standing up and pressing his fingers to the side of her neck to feel her pulse.
"I won't stand for another fib from you M. Todd. Sit down, Marinette knows better than to pretend to be sick, and to sleep in class. I will be having a word with her after class. Now sit down." The woman ordered,
Jason ignored her, and grabbed her phone. "Her pulse is too slow." He hissed, dialing 112 while maneuvering the short girl into his lap, and bundling up against him. Without prompting Nino and Kim walked over, draping their jackets over her, and huddling around her on the other side. "Marinette?" Jason prodded, only for her head to roll lifelessly to the side, showing her bluing lips to the rest of the class, who let out strangled gasps. "Shit." Jason hissed, ordering the ambulance to hurry up. "Turn on the fucking heater!"
The three boys huddled around her, massaging her hands, and arms in hopes of working their body heat into her. Rose fumbled with the thermostat, ignoring Mlle. Bustier's disapproving scowl, and dialing the heater on all the way. After what seemed like far too long, the ambulance arrived, and whisked the unconscious off to the hospital while calling her parents. Jason pulled his jacket back on and glared at the teacher while hitting his father's number. "I hope you like a lawsuit bitch." He spit, and stormed out of the school.
In the end, both teacher and principle lost their teaching licenses, with only Mlle. Bustier being sues for child endangerment, child abuse, child neglect, and attempted murder for what she did in regards of Marrinette..
