Summary:
Joey confirms her teacher Adrien on why he lets Kaiba bullies her.

Josephine, or Joey, was fuming. Her mother had paid for a gorgeous yellow dress for her birthday. It had been expensive (44000 yen.) She had been wearing it at school, showing it off to her friends when Kaiba spills coffee on it. He sneers at her, saying it looks better that way. She screamed it was expensive. He replied that it looks cheap. She had been furious and so had her friends and her classmates, even the ones who envy her dress. Their physics and English teacher, Adrien, have told her to forgive Kaiba and take the high road, when she swears, she will get revenge, to forgive Kaiba and not to create trouble. He had threatened to give her detention if she doesn’t relent.

Joey inhales as she tried to calm down. She walks into Adrien’s classroom.

“Sensei, can I talk to you for a moment?”

“Of course. What do you want to talk about me?”

“Why did you tell me you forgive Kaiba? He ruined an expensive dress that my mother gives me for my birthday.”

“This is for the best. Kaiba has various amounts of power and money. If he wants, he can make life very difficult for you and the school. You wouldn’t want to cause any trouble for your teachers now, would you?” He looks at her with disappointed green eyes.

Joey raises an eyebrow. “None of the other teachers have a problem with it. I have seen them tell off Kaiba before for not finishing his duel with Yugi when class begin. They separate and punish us both when we fight.”

            “That is different.”

“How? Kaiba may be allowed accommodations for his job but that doesn’t mean he can break the rules so easily.”

“It is better for you to go along with what Kaiba wants. It will make things easier for you since he is more powerful than you.”

“Oh, sounds like you are just too scared to go against him.” Joey mocks.

“Watch your tone, young lady.” Joey rolls her eyes. She looks at him with fire in her eyes. How he hates that look. He calms down.

“Let me tell you a tale of a boy I once knew. Once upon a time, there was a boy named Adrien. He had been the son of one of the wealthiest men in Paris.  Adrien has it all at his school. He was a popular model. People admired him. He was even partners with a beautiful lady, who was in love with him despite her denials.

Then he came, Leo. He was the son of an Italian diplomat. He and one of Adrien’s closest friends, Marinette immediately clash. Leo got a little overbroad in their argument. It was little things, like a trip here and a food spill here. Adrien tried to get Marinette to keep the peace. But Marinette refuses his advice and tried to punish Leo. When the faculty rightfully told her that she was overacting and should be nice to Leo, Marinette went over their heads and told the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors takes action and replace the faculty causing chaos. Despite that, Adrien‘s and Marinette’s friends praise her for what she had done.

“Due to evidence of the faculty mishandling bullying and taking bribes, the majority of them have been replaced. “Everyone in the courtyard eyes Chloe, at the assembly. “Our new teachers have been screened and you can be sure that they won’t let any misdemeanor slide.” The new principal announces, “Before we send everyone back to class, let’s give the trio of students who gather the evidence and submit it to the Board of Directors, Alya Cesaire, Leo Rossi, and Marinette Dupain-Cheng a round of applause.” Everyone claps. Ms. Bustier’s class did too, though they were perplexed. Alya and Marinette could understand. After all, they were best friends. Leo and Marinette thought the best way to describe their relationship was the two dislike each other but were polite to each other. According to Alya, the two have different interests, opinions, and conflicting personalities, so they don’t get along. The class had accepted that. It wasn’t like they hadn’t seen that happen before. That was why the class tended to hang out with the two separately.
