Alex stifled a squeal of excitement, covering their mouth with their hands.

But come on, you couldn’t judge them. They’d been waiting forever for Felix and Marinette to realize that they were absolutely adorable together!

And if Alex had cooked up a few schemes that involved ‘accidentally’ locked doors, lost keys and that one fake rhino that they had on display in the natural history section, that was nobody’s business.

The two hadn’t even needed it! Alex wasn’t sure how the two had gotten together, but they did know that they would be poking around for information later. Probably with Marinette, she was the most likely of the two to give them the answers they wanted. Felix was more likely to stare at them with a stony expression, which was absolutely no fun at all.

Apparently, they hadn’t been quiet enough, because Marinette and Felix both turned around to look at where they’d been snooping through a gap in the blinds of their office.

Marinette blushed, but didn’t let go of Felix’s hand, while Felix just stared, the faintest trace of pink dusting his cheeks.

Well, they’d already been caught, may as well go fishing for information!

They slipped out of their office, a sly smirk on their face. “So, what’s new with you two?”

Felix pinched his nose and sighed. “Don’t pretend you don’t already know, Alex. Feigned ignorance is not a becoming of a museum director.”

“Spoilsport.”

Marinette elbowed Felix, silencing their bickering. “Before you start prying, we just got together officially yesterday.”

“See, this is why your girlfriend is my favorite.” Felix opened his mouth, probably to say something else cutting, but Alex beat him to it. “And before you say something else undoubtedly meant to wound my ego, I will invoke my boss privileges and give you the elementary school tour that starts in 30 minutes! Better get ready!” They gave him a huge smile, enjoying the dread in his eyes.

Marinette poorly concealed her laughter with a cough.

“You suck,” Felix deadpanned.

“That’s the spirit!”

Felix entered Alex’s office, looking the most nervous they had ever seen him.

“May I speak to you about something?” He was fidgeting with something in his pocket, something so uncharacteristic that it got Alex’s mind going.

Oh, they knew exactly what this was about.

“I’ll help you propose, but only if I’m your Best Person. I’m assuming I’m one of the only friends you’ve got, anyway.”

“How did you know I was going to ask you to help me propose?”

They tapped their pen on the side of their head. “I didn’t get this position just because of my great looks, you know.”

“I’ve never been this nervous in my life. What if she says no?”

Alex sighed. “Felix, that girl looks at you like you hung the moon and personally keep the earth spinning on its axis. There’s no way she’s going to say no.”

“I hate this feeling, this anxiety. I don’t know how Marinette deals with it on a daily basis.” The way his face softened by even just thinking about her made Alex smile at the change in the usual grouchiness.

“I know you help a lot. I also know that you know some of her techniques to calm herself, so I recommend those. In any event, what’s your plan? I know you’ve got one.”
