Lila confronted Marinette in the hallway.
“Hello, Marinette.”
“Look, Lila, I think you got the wrong idea about me.”
“Oh no, I have a very good idea about you, you little hypocrite. All your lecturing about lying, and you just as much as a liar as I am.”
Marinette snorted, “That is not the same at all! I lie to keep my and others' secrets. You lie for you.”
“We’ll see if your friends feel that way when they know your little secret.”
“They’ll never believe you.”
“Oh, but I’m not going to tell them. You are.”
“What are you–”
Lila kissed her on the cheek, and she fell unconscious.
Alya and Nino were sitting together when Marinette approached them.
“Girl, we need to talk about you throwing that napkin.”
“Oh yes,” Marinette said sarcastically, “Like that would have done any harm.”
“You could have taken Max’s eye out!”
“What? Though his glasses?”
“Umm…”
Marinette sneered, “That’s what I thought. You’re not as smart as you think you are.”
“Now that’s out of line!” Nino said.
“You mean like rearranging my seat without talking to me first?”
“I…” Nino looked away.
Marinette shook her head, “After all I did for you, this is how you repay me?”
“Look, girl,” Alya said, “I can see now that we should have talked to you first, but Lila–”
“Lila this! Lila that! Are you capable of thinking about anyone but her?”
“Marinette! There’s no need to be jealous.”
“Jealous? What do I have to be jealous about? I’m a hundred times better than her.”
Alya and Nino looked at her in disbelief. Marinette had been unusually aggressive all day, but this was something else.
Chameleon smirked. This was going perfectly. She would reveal Marinette’s secret in a way that would alienate her from her friends and make her look like a jealous jerk. Sure, there was no way to do that without revealing that she wasn’t friends with Ladybug, but she’d just spin it as the lonely new kid telling tale tales to get friends.
“What is your problem?!” Alya asked.
“My problem is you believe her over me when I know she’s a liar because I’m–”
“Stop! Imposter!”
Alya and Nino were astonished to see a second Marinette running toward them.
The real Marinette was thankful Tikki had been able to wake her before it was too late.
Alya and Nino narrowed their eyes and jumped the fake Marinette.
She easily threw them off her.
“Right, super strength,” Nino groaned.
Chameleon took his cap and jumped away.
“Hey!”
“I’ll post this on the Ladblog,” Alya said, “People need to be warned about a shapeshifting Akuma.”
“I’ll go look for Ladybug and Chat Noir,” Marinette said and ran off before they could say anything.
“Miraculous Ladybug!”
The ladybugs turned Lila back from a clam to a human.
Lila scowled, “Fine! If I can’t expose your secret, I’ll just make sure you lose.”
She left.
“What secret?” Chat asked.
“Oh, she thinks some girl from her school is me,” Ladybug told him, which was true but not the whole truth.
Chat blinked, “Are you?”
“Even if I was, which I’m not, I couldn’t tell you.”
Chat sighed, “Right, secret identities. Do you think she’ll be a problem?”
“She has no superpowers. What’s the worst she could do?”
