Olivia's pov:

I'm still buzzing with joy as Jerome drives into Kent's property.

"Can you come next time?"
I ask, getting out the car.

"I'll go as often as Kent lets me, Olivia."

Just before I walk through the door into the house, though, Jerome grabs my arm, hesitating.
Apparently, he wants a moment together while we are still alone.

"I, uh...... I had a really nice time with you today, Olivia."

I smile.

Then I see the garage door open out of the corner of my eye.
Kent stands there, looking at me and Jerome with anger on his face.

I turn my attention back to Jerome, realising I haven't answered him.

"I did too, Jerome. I never had that much fun in a while. And you're a good teacher. I wish I could see you riding a horse in a rodeo."
I say honestly and smile at him again.

"I'm sure one day I can take you to a rodeo and -"

Before Jerome can continue, Kent growls.

"Sir!"

Jerome looks scared when he sees Kent's angry face.

"Jerome, are you flirting with my son's fiancé?"

If looks can kill, Jerome would be twenty feet under the ground.

The jealousy I can see in Kent's eyes, gives me chills.
Right now, he looks like the mafia king that he is.

Kent walks over to where me and Jerome are and grabs me by the waist, pulling me close to him.

"Get the fuck out of here, Jerome. And if I see you flirting with Olivia.... Well, I'm sure you know what I'll do to you."

Kent offers Jerome a cruel smirk.

Jerome quickly nods, looking terrified, before running into the house.

"Well, Olivia? Did you have a nice time?"

"Yes, it was. Thank you for letting Jerome take me."

Kent just nods and then pulls something from his back pocket.

"You have mail."

He holds out a little square envelope.

Curious, I take it. There's no address on the front - just my name.

"Delivered by hand. Apparently, it's an invitation for tonight. The messenger is still here, waiting for your reply."

Quickly, I open the envelope, raising my eyebrows at what inside.

"A..... beach..... party?"

"It's about an hour away. Friends and family, apparently."

"Hang on.... Did you..... read my mail? For fuck sake Kent it's private"

Kent rolls his eyes. He then stares at me impassively.
I study the envelope, wondering how the hell he resealed it, and why he bothered to reseal it...

"Olivia, are you going to go?"

I look back at the invitation and see, in particular, that it's made out to me. No mention of Kent or Jack.

"Am I...... allowed to go?"

"I'll send you with my guards, of course. But there's no real reason to refuse. Unless, of course, you don't want to. You're not a caged pet, after all."

Kent says the final words ruefully, but my lips crook into a smile, recognising my language from this morning.

He was listening. He's trying.
