Olivia's pov:

I don't give anything away in my expression as I look at him.

Kent nods at me before leaving for his office. I follow him.

I knock gently on the open door to Kent's office, leaning casually against it.

"Olivia, what can I do for you?"

"Can I come in?"

Kent nods, waiting patiently as I enter the room and sit in a chair across from him.

I want to know about the deal he made with my sister but I know I won't get an answer or I won't like it. So I go for the appreciation path.

"I just wanted to say thank you. For my sister. It was nice to see she was okay and to have back in my life even a little bit."

"You're welcome."
He says simply, leaning back in his chair and studying me. He waits for me to continue the conversation.

"I will find a way to repay you."
I know this doesn't come without a cost.

Slowly, he shakes his head no.

I don't fully believe him but....

"Okay. Well...... thanks."

He nods to me as I stand up to leave and he looks back at his computer, clicking through some files.

"Olivia? What are you doing here?"
Jack asks, coming into the office as I'm about to leave.

"Nothing. Your dad just...... did something suspiciously nice today so I stopped in to say thanks."

Jack comes in further and looks between me and Kent. Frowning.

"Go on, Olivia. Let me have a word with my son."

I nod before heading out and up the stairs to my room.

Kent's pov:

"What did you do, dad?"

I narrow my eyes at my son, curious and unhappy about being questioned like this.

"Why do you care?"

"Because she's my fiancé, dad. And you've been kind of a dick to her lately. Now what, are you trying to buy her loyalty back? Her affection? What did you do, get her another horse?"

"Why are you jealous that you didn't think of it first?"

"Dad!"
Jack says angrily, taking a deep breath and clearly about to start a tirade, but I beat him to it.

"I don't know what the problem is here, Jack. But the girls allegiance is important to us. If you're not going to stop her from running all over town, dating our enemies, letting our own guys putting their hands all over her -"

Jacks mouth dropped open at this.

"If you're not going to keep the girl happy in our house, then..... I'm happy to step in."

Jack snaps his mouth shut, glaring at me.

"Fine. But you back off and leave this to me."

I shrug, pretending I'm happy to do it.
But deep down, I know that I want to be the one to do it.

"How are the wedding plans?"

"Finally curious about your own wedding, then? Frankly, it's bizarre that two such young people - people in love at that - have never asked any questions about the plans. The location. The ceremony. The honeymoon."
