The Time Me And Dooka met a Crazy capybara: book 5, part 10.

W/ Karis, Jace, Mya, Julian, Kennon & Sgt. Rudo.

Setting: Out in the destroyed, grassy, burnt fields, currently standing on a tall hill with an open view of the city.

No one's POV/3rd Person:

"Wow! I can almost see everything up here!" Julian Beamed brightly as one hand shields his squinting eyes from the surprisingly still blinding sun. "Yeah, it's oddly serene on this hill, weird. But I ain't complaining though." Sgt. Rudo Comments, as he eyes Jace who was also quietly taking in the scenery as she stood Next To Mya. "I love this." Karis adds, taking a deep breath. The brief silhouette of the leaves on the tall, sturdy trees swayed gently onto the group's faces. Temporarily imprinting their faces with odd patterns. The illuminating light of the sunrise bouncing off of each and every one of them. Mya exhales, it was laced with a blur of things... calmness, sorrow, stress, disappointment... the list goes on. Whilst the others watched in awe at the slow, but beautiful sunrise... Sgt. Rudo clears his throat and ambles his way over to Jace. "..." Jace glances up at him then returns her gaze back to the ground. Sgt. Rudo stares not a menacing, intimidating one.. But a calm, welcoming stare as he softens his gaze "Jace, right?..." Sgt. Rudo pondered and searched for the right words and most importantly, the tone. He still wanted to sound authoritative but still sound curious and welcoming. "Why." Jace only returns a monotone, blunt response. Sgt. Rudo seemed slightly annoyed and confused even though his best efforts to keep his cool. "Cause," He starts. "...fair enough." he looks away for a second, his gaze now fixated on the others who were sitting in a cluster, watching the sunrise.. It was a simple but calm and pleasant moment for all of them. He brought his gaze back to Jace who looked slightly miserable. "...the group is honestly a handful." Sgt. Rudo says, And Jace scoffs, laughing lightly. "Tell me something I DON'T know, really.." Jace crosses her arms, leaning against a thick, barky tree. "We've been through a lot, also." Sgt. Rudo sighs. That piqued Jace's Interest in the slightest bit. She'd never show how much she was intrigued about that last part, so she toned down her vast curiosity into a confused, 'Not that I care' tone of voice. "Like....?" Jace queries, And Sgt. Rudo sighs. "The capybaras, the horrors, the bad people... tons of things.. Y'know?" Sgt. Rudo says, and Jace nods along. "The 'bad' people? Elaborate, please." Jace might've shown too much interest, because Sgt. Rudo Stopped and looked at her. "...Sorry. But I just need to know, If I'm going to be a part of this group. I don't want to be in the wrong crowd." Jace says, and Sgt. Rudo thought, looking down. "....You might not be ready to know yet." Sgt. Rudo mutters, gaze tearing away from Jace. THAT only made her more confused. She felt like

she was missing out on something, lost. "You'll find out sooner or later." Sgt. Rudo exhales deeply and begins to walk back to the others to continue the journey.

"...Where are we going next?" Karis asks curiously, and Julian shrugs.. Completely oblivious and unaware of his surroundings. "Honestly, I don't even know!" Kennon adds.. Mya Walked next to Jace, who seemed like she wanted to ask something. "Hey, Mya.. Can I Ask you something?" Jace asks sheepishly. "Hm?" Mya seemed like she was elsewhere in her mind, but still listening to her. "What's all of the things you guys have encountered ever since this... crisis? Mya furrowed her brow. She didn't expect such a straightforward question, especially about their past. "I... What?" Mya didn't mean to be a little questioning, but this was sort of a shocker. "Like you know...." Jace nods slowly, attempting to give a slight boost though it wasn't ringing any bells; "The capybaras... the strangers you've met, anything." Jace was eager to know more about them, moreso the 'Bad' People Sgt. Rudo had mentioned. Mya tilted her head slightly, not expecting this. She inhales deeply, seeming a bit reluctant to spill the beans. "Well, Honestly... Everythings starting to become a blur for me. For all of us." Mya rubbed the back of her neck as she didn't really want to talk about this overly-sensitive topic. Jace didn't let that slide; "Just tell me what you remember.." Jace says... and Mya sighs, knowing that she most likely doesn't have a way out of this. "...It all started in the alleyway, with a capybara. Julian and I Went to investigate.. We were naive back then. We were 15. We've changed, though. Julian likes to put the burden on us, moreso himself. He thinks he's the reason this all started, even though it isn't. We didn't know how that thing back there would react." Mya sighs, and looks away. "It really wasn't just some 'normal' capybara, Jace.." Mya painfully turned to look back at Jace who was immensely nervous and attempting to be understanding. "...Something about it was different." Mya stumbles over her words, and Jace nods along. "I-I don't know, but I'm only going to give you the gist of the rest of the things that happened, alright?" Mya seemed to break slightly over this topic. "It was just really horrible, and we sort of 'ruined' our world. I wish we weren't so curious in that moment... because the world could have stayed the same.. And we wouldn't have to navigate this crisis... and we'd still be with our families." Mya sniffles, wiping away a tear. "Worst of all... we met someone horrible later on." Mya stutters.. "And Uh..." Mya looks off into the distance. "Who was that 'someone'?" Jace asks... Mya sighs and shuffles her feet, shifting weight uneasily from foot to foot. "Ugh... uhh, his name Was Enzo." Mya sighs, and Jace nearly jumps out of her skin at that very name. "ENZO?!"
