Jeonghan pov : 

seungcheol : i am so worried for shua. he isn't doing well these days

i hummed sadly. i knew exactly what he was talking about. there's too much going on in his life. joshua always tried to avoid hurting people and ends up hurting himself along with them.

my phone buzzed and i was surprised to see it was my mom. we just talked in the morning so why is she calling me again?

jeonghan : hi mom

mom : jeonghan i am so worried

jeonghan : what happened? wait- are you crying?

i felt so anxious. i could see coups sit up straighter in my peripheral vision.

jeonghan : what happened? where are you?

mom : i am at home don't worry. i am just worried about jihye.

jeonghan : what happened to jihye?

my heart was racing. i just wanted to run to my home and make sure mom and jihye were okay.

mom : i think someone is blackmailing her. i saw her meet someone secretly near our house and when she came back it looked like she was crying. when i asked her where she was jihye said that she went for a walk because she wasn't feeling well. jihye has always been a trouble maker but she never lied to me before.

i bit my lip. this sounds concerning. what could have happened to her? 

jeonghan : did you see the person she met?

as long as it isn't a man.

mom : no. they met in a car. i clicked a pic.

she sent me a pic and i took a deep breath before opening it. nothing will happen to jihye. not as long as i am with her.

the pic was confusing. jihye was entering a car but nothing inside the car was visible. after looking carefully i realized it was a carnival. but it wasn't just any carnival. seungcheol peeked into my phone from behind my shoulder.

seungcheol : what's this?

we exchanged a knowing glance but didn't say anything. we both know what's that.

jeonghan : mom you have nothing to worry about.

mom : do you know who it was?

her voice was so hopeful. i felt so guilty that i was about to lie to her. sorry mom, both of your kids are liars.

jeonghan : it was me.

seungcheol arched his brow at me and i just nodded to let him know i know what i am doing.

mom : what? why did you meet her like that? why didn't you come home? how can you make her cry? YOON JEONGHAN ARE YOU CRAZY!!

it hurts that her disappointment was so clear even on the phone. i have never seen her so furious. 

jeonghan : i am sorry. i didn't have enough time to come home. i knew you won't like it that i didn't meet you so i asked her to not tell you about it. this isn't jihye's fault. i think she just got emotional. don't worry about her mom. jihye is okay.

mom : why do you need to meet your own sister so secretly? 

i don't know. i haven't thought about that part yet. there are way too many plot holes.

jeonghan : i didn't think too deep about it. i am sorry mom.

mom : just don't ever do anything like this again. i thought someone was troubling my daughter. jihye is the happiest person i know. i don't even want to imagine her in pain. so stop scaring me. got it?
