We were having dinner but it wasn't just a dinner because the dinner table is basically our family's national assembly.

most of it was just mom and dad planning their trip while i stuffed rice into my mouth in jealousy.

mom : don't fight while we are gone

jihye : mom we aren't kids anymore

jeonghan : you are still a kid though. i am not.

i scowled at him. i am legally an adult now, i am not going to take any bullshit.

jihye : i am 19

jeonghan : who said i was talking about physical age?

i gasped at the insult. did he just call me mentally retarded?

jihye : i will kill you for real

jeonghan : i will kill you first

dad : she asked you to not fight

jeonghan, jihye : WE AREN'T FIGHTING!

mom : very believable

dad : jeonghan take care of jihye while we are gone. you are older so act like it.

jeonghan : of course when do i not act older

mom : does never count?

i thought it was quite funny but mom didn't look like she was joking. jeonghan sighed and looked down at his bowl as if he was offended. it was very weird because jeonghan has always been her favorite child. but the tension between them was noticeable. did they fight?

jihye : i can take care of myself

jeonghan : can you cook?

jihye : you can't either

jeonghan : at least i don't overcook instant noodles until they turn into porridge

wait what?

i thought we agreed to pretend it never happened. he even took all my snacks in exchange of that!

jihye : i was a kid back then

jeonghan : i didn't know that was 2 days ago

jihye : hey! it was 5 years ago

jeonghan : you cooked noodles inside mom?

the audacity?

i am so sick of these jokes. what should i do to prove i am an adult?

'hey brother! look i am an adult, i can drink and watch people smash now!'

mom : enough.

dad : i thought it was funny

jihye : no it's not.

mom : just eat now. no jokes.

dad : you are getting boring honey.

dad pulled mom's chair closer to him and crossed his arm over her shoulder. to my horror, she started blushing.

jihye : can you just not do that in front of us?

jeonghan : i have seen that a lot though

jihye : no. they weren't like that before

jeonghan : i came here first. they used to be quite lovey dovey before you were born

jihye : is that my fault?

mom : eat your food jihye

jihye : why don't you scold him? he doesn't eat much at all
