Only for today

i gasped as the rain drenched me completely in a few seconds. my mouth was hanging open as i stared at him in utter disbelief.

jihye: ARE YOU CRAZY?

joshua chuckled as if he was having the time of his life.

joshua: you should have listened to me.

i still couldn't believe that joshua removed the umbrella from above us. we were both soaking wet and the water drops on my lashes were blurring his face.

but i could still make out that amused smirk.

joshua: do you still think i am boring?

this boy has got some issues.

jihye: no. it's so much fun to get slapped by rain drops all over my body. thankyou so much for this amazing adventure, i can't wait to narrate this tale to jeonghan.

i felt a small sense of victory as the smirk was wiped off from his face and it was instead replaced by a competitive look.

joshua: forget jeonghan for today.

i furrowed my brows in confusion. it seemed as if the water did something to joshua. he looked so much more confident than before.

jihye: what do you mean?

joshua: because we aren't going home.

i must have made a funny face because joshua chuckled again. his bright laughter standing out in the sound of rain drops.

joshua: why do you look scared?

before i could answer, joshua took hold of my hands and then.. he smiled softly. as if we were in a field of lush green grass and wildflowers not in the middle of a street, getting drenched in the heavy rainfall.

joshua: let's just have fun today... without thinking of anything.

he wasn't teasing anymore, it sounded like a request. joshua was looking at me with boba like eyes, pouting expectantly as i thought about his words.

joshua: did i ask for too much?

i need to answer.

what should i say?

if i listened to my heart, would i get hurt again?

i don't want to misunderstand his friendliness, i don't want to go too close. it's strange, but i am scared of falling in love again.

i was about to refuse but as soon as i opened my mouth i ended up sneezing. joshua laughed softly.

joshua: let's get you some warmth first.

his grip on my wrist was gentle as he started dragging me into a convenience store that i hadn't noticed was right in front of us.

jihye: uh so wet-

i rambled complaints as he led me to a table near the glass wall. it was surprising that he didn't get even a little bit frustrated by my whining. i wiped my face with my handkerchief while joshua disappeared into the store, looking for something.

i was staring out of the window.

but i wasn't looking at anything. it seemed as if my mind was blank. there were so many thoughts trying to get my attention, but i was too apprehensive of them. so much that i couldn't think. or feel. or understand.

i flinched as someone tapped my shoulder suddenly. as soon as i looked up, i was met with joshua's warm smile. he placed hot cup noodles on the table and raised his hands to show me that he bought a towel. i chuckled at his adorable behavior. i muttered a thanks as joshua wrapped the towel around my shoulders gently.
