Mizuki followed her nose, leaping from building to building, running across cable-lines. It was like her body was acting on instinct, following the source of her power until she jumped from a cable-line, her heels pointed towards the glass window she'd launched herself towards. Glass shattered upon impact, cutting her in a few places, but she didn't pay it any mind, they'd already began healing. The adrenaline coursing through her veins allowed her to instantly roll back onto her feet and dart through the building. Eventually, she barged down a final door, seeing her counterpart sitting idly on a table, a small cut on the palm of his hand.
She looked up, flashing her fangs as she smiled. "That was... actually pretty smart." She recognised, regardless of how much it pained her to admit it.
"Told you I wasn't deadweight." He put his glove back on his hand, somewhat masking the smell from the vampire. "What's the situation out there?" He nudged his head towards the way she entered the building.
"The situation is - we're at such a disadvantage." She crossed her arms. It was unfair that the teams hadn't been told that rounds would consecutively go one after the other. Mizuki and Bakugo had been caught off guard, whereas other teams could regroup with their newfound knowledge of the exercise. "Doesn't matter though, Uraraka is out, caught her myself so there's not much chance of an air attack."
"And her partner was?"
Raking her mind, she briefly recalled who it was. "Asui, but Kaminari took her out in his round. Our biggest threat though, has got to be Hagakure."
"Agreed." He nodded as he began walking out of the room they'd been hidden in, causing the vampire to follow him. Trust was fickle when it came to Bakugo. However, that didn't alter her opinion of his competence when it came to winning. Bakugo was a determined teammate, he certainly wasn't going to be caught slacking, likely meaning he wouldn't allow her to either.
If there was on thing she needed, it was a win. Any win would do. Over the past weeks, she'd gotten so used to losing that she often didn't bother building her hopes up. She expected disappointment so that it hurt less when it inevitably came.
All of a sudden, Mizuki stopped in her tracks, hand instinctively reaching out and grabbing her teammates arm. She could hear footsteps nearing towards them. Something was wrong. The footsteps came to a halt right outside the building they were inside. It didn't make sense, why weren't they attacking, why were they waiting. Thats when her senses caught hold a strange sound echoing around the building, it sounded like the concrete was being covered, even compressed.
"Shit." She hissed, hers and Bakugo's feet now encased in a thick layer of ice. "Todoroki and Tokoyami." She roughly tugged on her foot, her strength allowing her to break the ice around it and free herself. Meanwhile, Bakugo sent explosions at the ice around him, similarly freeing himself.
He huffed, surveying their surroundings before barking orders at her. "You take out the birdbrain, I'll get Todoroki."
Rolling her eyes, Mizuki began walking in the direction their enemies were. "Fine, but as soon as I'm done with Tokoyami, I'll be there to save your ass." She put her ear against the ice on the wall, hoping she'd be able to hear the footsteps of their opponents. "Yours has gone left, mines gone right. We'll regroup after."
"Fine. I'll take the west stairwell and you can take the east." The two nodded at one another before heading in their own separate direction. Mizuki knew that the task involved being stealthy, but somehow, she was still unconvinced that Bakugo would commit to the same stealth as her.
Descending on her own down the stairs, she made an effort to not slip on the icy surface that Todoroki had enforced. It would prove to be a difficult battleground for them, however she hoped her opponents would face the same struggle. When she reached the bottom floor, she could make out the sound of boots crunching against the ice, warning her of Tokoyami's presence. Instinctively, she jumped upwards with her arms in the air, latching onto the roof with her claws and pulling the rest of her body upwards to be somewhat stealthy.
