I was frozen, staring blankly at the OR door. Faye was severely injured from the relentless stabs she had endured from the assailant.
Tears streamed down my cheeks, flowing freely as I struggled to grasp the gravity of the situation.
With my face drenched in tears, I turned my gaze towards the authorities, seeking information about the horrifying event. The security personnel were recounting the scene they had witnessed, as I was too shocked to provide any testimony.
I listened silently as P'Wanwan came running towards me, her face mirroring the same anguish I felt. She immediately enveloped me in a hug, her embrace offering a fragile solace.
"How is she?" she asked, her voice trembling.
I shook my head, crying on her shoulder. "The doctors haven't come out since they entered the operating room." It had been almost an hour and a half, but there was still no news about Faye's condition.
"This shouldn't be happening," P'Wanwan muttered, almost tearing at her hair as she paced back and forth. She pulled her phone from her pocket, snapping her fingers frantically while waiting for the other line to answer.
"I thought Annika was in jail. How the hell did she hire someone to do this?!" My forehead creased as I listened to P'Wanwan's conversation.
Annika?
The girl Faye kissed that night?
And now she's in jail?
And she hired someone?
My head pounded with the rush of unanswered questions.
I walked toward P'Wanwan, giving her a questioning look. She raised her hand, signaling me to wait until she finished her conversation. Her final words to the person on the other end were clipped and urgent.
"I know you have a lot of questions about what happened," P'Wanwan said, her voice strained as she tried to find the right words. "I don't know if it's my place to tell you everything, but you deserve to know the truth."
She took a deep breath, her eyes locking with mine, and delivered a statement that shattered everything I thought I knew.
"Faye didn't cheat on you... Everything was planned."
"Annika is the mastermind, "
I stood there, paralyzed, as her words echoed in my mind.
"What?" The word barely escaped my lips, a whisper of disbelief.
"It was all planned," P'Wanwan continued. "And the same person who tried to ruin your relationship before is responsible for this crime."
I felt my knees weaken, barely keeping my balance as the weight of her words sank in.
"The next person involved might also ring a bell," she said, her voice steady yet filled with sorrow.
"Killian."
"What?!" My ex? How could he be involved in this?
"Killian and Annika planned everything," P'Wanwan explained. "Our investigators discovered that Annika manipulated and threatened Faye into following her every command. She learned about the hidden camera footage Killian had of you—compromising footage. Annika used it as the first step in her plan to ruin both of you."
