i kept nervously looking over my shoulder as i walked through the woods. the darkness was terrifying, but i grabbed a flashlight from my bag before coming down here. i used the light to shine my way until i reached the bottom of the hill. as i began walking towards the shop, i heard a twig snap from behind me. i jumped and spun around, my flashlight revealing troys face.
-"you scared me." i sighed, seeing a slight smile form in the corners of his lips.
-"sorry." he chuckled as we began to walk on the sidewalk together.
-"how has hawkins been treating you since i left?"
-"it's been alright. i've always been good at school so that's not really a problem." i answered.
-"i heard your mom married the chief hopper! has that been good?" he cheered, obviously not knowing.
i wanted to break down right then and there when he brought her up.
-"uh.. they did. but my mom died a few months after their wedding." i mumbled.
-"oh.. i'm so sorry, man."
-"thank you.." i whispered, trying to hold back tears.
-"i'll keep you in my prayers. shes watching over you, always." he patted my back.
i looked over into his eyes, he looked so guilty and genuine. it was almost hard to believe.
-"why are you being so nice to me?" i stopped walking to face him. he stood in front of me a few feet away with a sorry look on his face.
-"i'm trying to change and be a better person. i'm so racked of guilt for bullying you for so many years.." he began to explain.
-"so you're hanging out with me out of pity?" i asked, getting a little offended.
-"no. no, i honestly like you. i do. i really think we could be friends." he shook his head defensively.
-"friends?"
-"yeah.. friends." he started to take a few steps forward. before i could take a deep breath, his face was directly in front of mine. before i could do anything, his lips were softly pressing onto mine. i let him kiss me, but not for long.
-"what are you doing?" i whispered after pulling my lips off of his.
-"i'm sorry.. i shouldn't have done that. i'm sure you have a girlfriend or something- i should go.." he stammered.
as i watched him anxiously panic, i started to think. mike was insanely jealous when he saw me talking with troy.
how jealous would he be if i was kissing him?

just as troy began to walk away, i grabbed his arm and pulled him towards me. i slammed my lips onto his, a smirk forming in the corners of his lips as he kissed me back. his hand trailed the back of my neck, pulling me closer into his lips. he pulled away to catch his breath and looked me in my eyes, his face vaguely lit up from the street lights.
-"you have no idea how long i've been wanting to do that." he whispered, making me feel a little guilty.
he pressed his lips on mine again, making me forget about the guilt. imagining him to be mike made the moment feel more special. it made me actually want to kiss him back.
-"hey, do you want to do something fun?" he whispered. i nodded before he grabbed my hand and started running towards the pool. he let go of me and started climbing on the metal fence.
-"what are you doing?" i whispered.
-"what does it look like? i'm climbing the fence." he pulled himself up.
-"are you crazy? it's closed, we're going to get kicked out!" i muttered.
he reached the top and began to climb down on the other side. he jumped off, his feet landing on the concrete before he started walking to the gate.
-"did you forget my grandparents own this place? they can't kick us out." he let me in, grabbing my hand. he shut the door behind us and took his shirt off before diving in the pool. when he came up to the surface, he waved his hands in the air at me.
-"what are you waiting for?"
-"i'm in my pajamas!" i chuckled, pulling at the gym shorts i was wearing.
-"just jump in, it's fine!" he laughed
i rolled my eyes before jumping in with him, coming back to the surface and meeting his lips again.
it felt weird kissing troy like this. he seems to actually like me. it all feels so wrong..

-"wait, i have an idea." he mumbled before hopping out of the pool and breaking into the gift shop connected to the gate.
i waited at edge of the pool for him, kicking the water with my feet. not a while later, i heard him walking towards me. he sat down at the edge next to me and that's when i saw he was holding two beers in his hands. he handed me one but i did not want to take it.
-"what's the matter?"
-"i don't drink.." i chuckled nervously.
-"it's fine, it's just one." he held it in front of me, waiting for me to take it but i didn't.
-"c'mon, it'll be fun! don't be a pussy." he chuckled.
