Chapter 83: Predicament

-THURSDAY, MARCH 29TH, 2023.-
So allegedly, I was supposed to meet Kris' mom after school yesterday at THEIR house but I forgot, so I texted Kris about it today after school, and they responded saying it's okay because I can still come today, so without even thinking to follow Risk home, I then responded that I'll be there ASAP as I then pocketed my phone, running off from Risk, as if they cared where me and John went off too, and oh- speaking of which even though I was told repeatedly bh Kris she just wants to talk to me, I brought John with me anyways. As I walked through the of course cold and surprisingly this time mostly sunny but still COLD snowy streets of Hometown, all the way across from the school and shops past the apartment to Kris' home, me and John knocked on the door, got let in by Toriel, took off our boots and unzipped our jackets, as we both sat on the couch and introduced ourselves to her, Kris was playing on his Nintendo as usual just getting up and pausing the game went elsewhere, up to their room as we heard a door shut as soon as Toriel finished making tea after greeting us, signaling Kris was upstairs and probably locked their door just for some alone time, as things seemed a bit "off" about this whole meeting, as Toriel brought her cup of lemon tea on a tiny plate and napkin, sipping it as she sat down once as she then gulped and wiped her mouth with her left arm, as she took the cup of tea itself putting it on the lampstand next to the recliner that was located next to the TV, as she then started talking as John just sat back not caring, as Toriel cracked her fingers real quick, adjusting her glasses as she then sniffled and said to us, leaning back as she reclined her chair sticking out her toes and yawning, as she then gulped and said:

Toriel- "So, it is nice seeing you two here..... but I'm also aware that you both gone through some losses as well as with Kris as well, I am aware it's around 4 PM now so I won't hold you both here for too long as I know you kids should get back to your parents or homes, but Kris told me you and him used to talk a lot but you've been avoiding him lately, Jack, is that true?"

Jack- "Am I in trouble????????"

Toriel- "No!! No not at all! Do not think I am upset my child. I just want to understand, I am aware this causes great frustration and all and-"

Jack- I'd sigh, loudly, "No, it's nothing to do with that, I just don't, and DON'T get why this is such a concern to them, they don't talk much unless we're hanging out with Susie and Noelle anyways so-"

Toriel- "And that I'd understand, but what I'm wondering is if you're safe and all and if-"

Jack- "Look, I'm not trying to start any trouble it's just ahhh- you know this is kind of a rough subject on me, it is a bit rude to drop all this trauma on a teen-aged kid like me who- just had lost 3 friends in less than the span of 2 months, at the beginning of the year already of course, I mean I'm going through a lot right now so..... I prefer not to talk about it. Anyways can me and my friend leave now?"

Then, of course after that Toriel gave us permission to go, and I was out along with John as she got up and opened the door and screen for us, waving goodbye as I was just glad to be out of there, it was still 4:30 as we left and the sun was still up. As long as we could get back soon, that's all that really mattered, in all honesty.
