Chapter 36: Conversation With Davonte.

-SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH, 2023.-

Davonte asked me to help him out with work again, and he offered to pay me $100 this time just like last time, and even said he'd double it if I'd come back a third time to help him finish the job he's supposed to do so his boss who's still in Hawaii will stop harassing him over the phone. I said I'd be busy tomorrow (yeah right, I just didn't want to go back to that God awful workplace again) and I told him that although that is "true", I'll be able to come today and he doesn't have to pay me, so I got out of the house early at noon, and at 12:30, I arrived to help Davonte out. It was a shorter day today, and instead of working for however many hours we worked the first time, this time we only worked for 6, but we still got what we could done although it was tough, Davonte and I being the only ones there as always. After work, we got off at 7 and started walking home in the cold 30 degree snow, with the sun just having set and the dim blue light in the sky slowly going dark as the street and building lights all around town turned on to light everything up, as a green sedan passing by us quickly turned its headlights on as we got closer and closer to my apartment, and I began talking with Davonte as we passed by the local suburbs of HT and were walking by the diner and then arrived outside of my apartment, as once I walked up the steps about to go into my home, Davonte called out to me:

Davonte- "So, you getting more used to work now huh?"

Jack- "Yeah, I guess, hehe."

Davonte- "Aye that's nice to here, anyways I heard that friend of yours named Berdly disappeared due to a blizzard about 2 weeks ago, I know we don't know whether he's dead or not because the cops have yet to find him or his body but...." he'd then smack his lips, and exhale, telling me: "Uh- just stay safe out there aight man?"

Jack- "Yeah uh, you too, have a safe night Davonte."

Then, Davonte, would bid the same to me, saying bye as he gave me a quick wave and walked back off to his home, and I then went inside, shutting the door, taking off my boots as I walked in, and wrapping up the night by going to bed early at around 8 PM and collapsing without even throwing covers on me as usual, since I already had the winter clothes on me to keep me warm anyway.
