ZOO Time!!!

My mind was racing with excitement and nervousness. Today wasn't just any day; Shoto had asked me to go to the zoo with him yesterday. It wasn't a date, or at least I didn't think it was, but the thought of spending time with Shoto outside of our cafe meeting and training sessions made my heart flutter. Maybe it was just me but I was really looking forward to it.

This is just like meeting at the cafe....

But why does this feel so much personal?

I think I never thought we would meet up more than just over text online and the cafe as well as our little training sessions....

This feels personal.

But I am looking forward to it.

Sounds like a good idea.

I like it.

Did he really come up with this on his own?

It was about time to head out since me and Sho would meet each other outside at the middle of our two paths to the zoo. He could have picked me up and he offered it to me but I said no. The reason is quite simple... I needed time to get my mind calmer before I would meet him.

I liked him... no denying this.

I enjoyed each time we spend together.

It felt different, it felt quite nice and refreshing and relaxing.

"Come on, Deku, you can do this," I whispered to myself, trying to calm my nerves. I grabbed my backpack, made sure I had my notebook and a couple of snacks, and headed out the door.

While I headed to our meeting point, I couldn't help but replay the conversation from yesterday in my mind.

~Flashback brought to you by a small baby bunny being cared by a cat as if it was another of its kind and their fated ones~

Shoto: Hey, Midoriya. I was wondering if you'd like to go to the zoo with me tomorrow. I hear they have a new baby animals.

I remember my face heating up, my mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water before I finally managed to stammer out something. Words that I even thought would be gibberish. It came out of the blue and I was not prepared for this question at all.

Me: S-Sure, Todoroki! I'd love to.

~End of flashback brought to you by a bunny falling asleep on top of a cat who is purring to make it sleep more comfortable~

On a short notice Shoto told me to get to the zoo alone and meet him there. There was just this mix up... he got into the wrong train and had to call his brother who was with Hawks together enjoying the day. Long story short... he missed the train to our meet up place and ended up lost so they had to pick him up and brought him to the zoo because it would be faster and we both would need the same time to get there.

So I took the train to get to it. The train ride felt like it took forever, and yet, it was over too quickly. Before I knew it, I was standing at the entrance of the zoo, scanning the crowd for that familiar two-toned hair Candy Cane. I spotted him near the ticket booth, looking effortlessly cool in a casual outfit. Trust me... this guy could look more than hot. Not even the sun could rival him. Like dang! He was wearing all white and it just fit him.

My heart skipped a beat as I walked over to him... let's be honest it was more than one and I didn't think it would be this bad when I decided to agree to this meeting.

Me: Hey, Sho!

He turned and gave me a small smile that made my stomach do flip-flops out the fucking window into the next pond to get my head straight.

Shoto: Morning, Izu. Ready to see some animal babies?

Me: Absolutely!

I replied, a bit too enthusiastically. I could feel my cheeks burning as we walked through the entrance together.

The zoo was bustling with families and tourists, children's laughter mixing with the sounds of animals. Shoto and I made our way to the first exhibit, a large enclosure filled with playful monkeys swinging from branch to branch.

Me: They're so energetic. It's amazing how agile they are.

Shoto: Yeah. It's kind of like how you move during training. Quick and unpredictable.

I felt my face heat up at the compliment. Then again, he just compared me to monkeys. If I didn't know what he meant, this could have made someone quite angry. Shoto was just not the type to know how to use his words properly sometimes and I can't blame him. I wouldn't as well... I mean I was stammering right now where I never was doing this before.

Guess we both were nervous.

Me: Th-thanks, Todoroki. You're pretty amazing yourself, you know. Your ice and fire abilities are incredible.

He turned to look at me, his heterochromatic eyes intense.

Shoto: Thanks. I've been trying to balance them better, like you suggested.

We continued to wander through the zoo, stopping at various exhibits and chatting about the different animals. Shoto seemed more relaxed than usual, and I found myself laughing and smiling more freely as the day went on.

At the penguin exhibit, Shoto bought us both ice cream, and we sat on a bench to enjoy it. I couldn't help but notice how close we were sitting, our shoulders almost touching. I glanced at Shoto out of the corner of my eye, wondering if he felt the same nervous excitement that I did.

Me: This is really nice, Sho. Thanks for inviting me.

Shoto: I'm glad you came, Izu. I've been wanting to spend more time with you.....

I nearly choked on my ice cream. I definitely got the wrong idea here. It couldn't be that we were thinking about the same thing here... are we?

Me: R-really?

He nodded, looking a bit unsure of himself for the first time.

Shoto: Yeah. You're important to me, more than you think you are.

My heart was pounding so hard I was sure he could hear it. What he just said sounded like a confession.

Me: Todoroki, I... I feel the same way. You're important to me too.

A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. What I just said was not a lie... We knew each other for a while now and he was really one of the best people I had known. I never thought I would feel this shy around a guy but hey, life is unexpected.

Shoto: I'm glad to hear that.

We finished our ice cream in comfortable silence, watching the penguins waddle around their enclosure. The rest of the day passed in a blur of laughter, shared stories, and stolen glances. By the time we left the zoo, the sun was already setting. What a great day we had. It sure was something to look back and just enjoy.

Shoto: Izu, I had a great time today. Maybe we could do this again sometime?

I nodded, a big smile spreading across my face.

Me: I'd like that, Todoroki. I'd like that a lot.

With that we both parted and I just couldn't stop smiling at all. This was deifnitely not what I expected.... I felt like the luckiest person on earth right now.... he was just perfect through and through. Maybe one day, this relationship we have would grow to something more. I wouldn't hate it.... with how much my heart is beating around him... I think I would love it.
